FL Democrat rips ‘rudderless’ party
As bad as Trump is polling right now, Democrats should be pouncing, but the party has no real leadership and no real vision.
It has gotten so bad, some Dems are leaving the party, citing this lack of direction for their departure.
Time for Schumer to go
It was pretty obvious after the election that Democrat leadership was reeling, but it only got worse after Senator Schumer (D-NY) helped pass the short-term funding bill by backing a procedural vote to block the filibuster.
Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD) was among the first Democrats to call out Schumer, suggesting it was time for him to leave office.
Ivey stated, “I respect Chuck Schumer. I think he had a great career."
He then qualified that statement: “But it may be time for Senate Democrats to get a new leader.”
Not Alone
He was far from alone in Congress, nor was he alone among talking heads who wanted to see changes among the party’s leadership.
Charlamagne Tha God has become a prominent face for frustrated minority Democrats over the last few years, and he has had it with both Schumer and Rep. Jeffries (D-NY), who took over as House Minority Leader after Pelosi stepped down from her leadership role. He stated, “The party of inaction, the Democrats, have failed to protect the interest of the American people. And you know why Dems suck at messaging? Because they never talking about nothing and they do nothing."
“Dems don’t just have a messaging problem. They got a leadership problem," he added. "The Chuck Schumers of the world, the Hakeem Jeffries’s, they should all step down.”
Stephen A. Smith, an ESPN host, has also ventured more into the political arena as of late, voicing similar concerns, even saying that he may not have any other choice but to run if the party does not get its act together soon.
Florida state senator calls out Democrats
Jason Pizzo was a Democrat state legislator, but now he too is walking away from the Democrat Party, stating, "Our constituents are craving practical leaders, not political hacks."
He continued, "We've had bills recently, people squatting in people's homes or hotels, transient occupancy in hotels and the Democrats just, you know, keep showing up saying have mercy, have mercy. But to some extent, enough is enough. And that's where we are.”
To his point, since Governor DeSantis has been running the show in the state, he has flipped a state that in 2012 showed the Democrats with a more than 550,000 advantage registered in the state. That number has now moved significantly to Republicans being ahead by 1.2 million, a staggering reversal.
Right now, both parties are kind of aimless, as Trump is seeing infighting over his agenda and Democrats are too disorganized to take advantage. At some point, Democrats will figure it out, so let’s hope Trump and Congress can get on the same page in time to save 2026.
