Former CBS Reporter Comes Forward to Reveal How Network Killed the Laptop Story
Imagine having a bombshell story in the middle of an election season, then having it not only killed but outright ignored by the powers that be.
That is the story of Catherine Herridge, who was eventually fired by the network. Now, she is finally telling the full story behind how CBS News killed her report on the Hunter Biden laptop.
The Story of the Election
Just for a second, let’s go back to the 2016 election.
The New York Post broke the story that Hunter Biden’s laptop was abandoned at a local repair shop, and it contained a plethora of evidence regarding Hunter Biden’s business deals and possible connections to Joe Biden.
It was a bombshell story, but it was killed before oxygen could really get the fire burning. Social media outlets killed the story, the mainstream media ignored it, then 51 former intelligence officials said it had all the signs of Russian disinformation, even though not a single one of them had actually inspected the laptop.
This gave Biden exactly what he needed to say the laptop story had been debunked during the debate. It was nothing more than pulling the wool over the eyes of the American people, but there is a new cog to this story.
I Have a Story
It turns out, there was another reporter who had the story and was investigating it, but the story was killed very early on.
Herridge, who I believe was one of the more honest journalists in the business, had the story, had verified the information, and presented to management as well as anchor Norah O’Donnell.
She informed both of them at the time that there was information on the laptop regarding “a million dollar retainer from a Chinese energy firm.” She also stated there were other emails and texts on the laptop that were related to Hunter’s business that were newsworthy.
Kill the Story
After Herridge presented the story, it just died. The story not only sat there, but her coworkers went in a completely different direction.
For instance, if you recall the “60 Minutes” interview with Lesley Stahl and Donald Trump, Stahl told Trump to his face the laptop “couldn’t be verified.”
Herridge explained, “As I watched the broadcast, I felt sick. I knew the laptop records could be vetted and confirmed.”
She added, “I told Ciprian-Matthews the vetted materials included a million dollar retainer from a Chinese energy firm, emails with Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski as well as Hunter Biden text messages. Asked by Ciprian-Matthews if there was a ‘Hunter connection,’ I responded, ‘Yes, all of them.'”
Polling showed that the 2020 election would have been significantly impacted by this story had voters all known the truth. So tell me again, how is this not considered election interference, especially by the 51 former intelligence officers and their utterly ridiculous letter trying to debunk the story? That aside, the move by the powers that be at CBS News just proves today’s news outlets are not interested in reporting the news… they want to create it.
