Former Democrat adviser shocked at Mamdani’s anti-police rants

Zohran Mamdani winning the Democrat primary election in the New York City mayoral race could be what takes the Democrat Party down.

While the DNC appears it is going to embrace Mamdani, other Democrats cannot run away quickly enough.

Democrats are divided on how to react to Mamdani, with some very powerful Democrats now standing across the aisle from each other.

Battling Jeffries

After Mamdani won the nomination, House Minority Leader Jeffries (D-NY) was hesitant to endorse Mamdani, citing the fact that he needed to look into some of his statements a bit more before making that decision.

Mamdani’s supporters then announced that they would try to primary Jeffries to remove him from office.

Jeffries' office responded, "However, if Team Gentrification wants a primary fight, our response will be forceful and unrelenting.

“We will teach them and all of their incumbents a painful lesson on June 23, 2026."

Mamdani fans

Mamdani does have fans, one of them being City Comptroller Brad Lander, who just made a rather radical decision to apparently help Mamdani when he reportedly aided boycott efforts against Israel by withdrawing union pension funds from bonds issued by the Jewish state, reported the New York Post.

First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro responded, “I write on behalf of the Adams Administration to request a review of the decision-making process surrounding the effective withdrawal of New York City pension funds from investment in State of Israel Bonds.

“This divestment, occurring amid a global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel, appears to be in furtherance of that BDS campaign, regardless of the adverse financial consequences for city pensioners.”

If you look at the New York state pension fund, there is more than $360 million invested in the Jewish state, so Mastro is right to be asking questions here.

Stunned

After comments by Mandani resurfaced that were not exactly complimentary of the NYPD, Former Democratic Party advisor Dan Turrentine expressed his outrage over Mamdani.

He stated, "I'm almost speechless. Like, that is so enraging. It's crazy. I hope it hurts him. Like, when I hear that, and I try to have an open mind, hope that whoever our next mayor is makes this city a great place. I live [here]. We have children here. New York City police officers put themselves in such harm's way.

“This city is full of crazy people on subways. I, our children go on it. The number of times that there are homeless people who are, like, out of their mind who come up to kids, who scream at them right near - to say the police are the [problem], I hope our party condemns him."

Democrats have a real decision to make in this general election. Do they lean into Mamdani’s socialist agenda, or do they support either Adams or Cuomo, both of whom are running as independents (but I would imagine one of them will drop out before then). If Mamdani wins and starts getting his agenda in place, there is no telling what will happen with this movement around the rest of the country.
