Former Obama AG suing Pentagon on behalf of Chinese company

One steady narrative throughout this campaign has been exposing the ties of highly placed Democrats and their allies to the Chinese.

Loretta Lynch did not help matters any when it was revealed that she was suing the government she used to work for on behalf of a Chinese company.

Changing Teams

Lynch served as Barack Obama’s Attorney General from 2015 to 2017. Currently, she is an attorney for Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. That firm also happens to represent a Chinese drone manufacturer.

DJI is now suing the Pentagon for having designated it a “Chinese military company.” The DOJ added the designation to Section 1260H in 2022. That classification means the company is either “directly or indirectly owned, controlled or beneficially owned by” the Chinese military or complicit in supporting the Chinese military.

Lynch’s firm was hired to defend the company, now claiming that DJI “is neither owned nor controlled by the Chinese military and … sells only ‘consumer and commercial’ — not military — drones.”

Republicans Push Back

After the suit was filed and it was revealed that Lynch works for the firm, Republicans pounced in a big way. That charge was led by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). The firebrand Republican stated, “Barack Obama’s former Attorney General Loretta Lynch has turned her back on her nation, selling out to our greatest adversary Communist China and suing the United States on behalf of CCP-owned drone company DJI.

“Not only is her lawsuit full of factual errors, it is also an obvious effort by DJI to distract from CBP’s recent halting of DJI imports due to Uyghur slave labor concerns and a futile attempt to disrupt the momentum behind my unanimously passed Countering CCP Drones Act. DJI’s time in the United States is rightfully coming to an end and Loretta Lynch’s sham lawsuit is not going to save them.”

Bad Timing

Lynch is hardly the first American politician to represent another nation, as foreign nations spend millions lobbying former officeholders to work for them. However, this just seems different because of how much this narrative has dominated this particular election cycle. For instance, look at how much is being made of Tim Walz’s ties to China.

That has gotten so much attention that Rep. James Comer (R-KY) has even started a probe to see if Walz is compromised. Comer stated, “The CCP has sought to destroy the United States through coordinated influence and infiltration campaigns that target every aspect of American life, including our own elected officials. Americans should be deeply concerned that Governor Walz, Kamala Harris’s vice-presidential running mate, has a longstanding and cozy relationship with China. Mr. Walz has visited China dozens of times, served as a fellow at a Chinese institution that maintains a devotion to the CCP, and spoke alongside the President of a Chinese organization the State Department exposed as a CCP effort to influence and co-opt local leaders.

“FBI briefers recently informed the Committee that the Bureau’s Foreign Influence Task Force investigates CCP activity that is similar to China’s engagement with Governor Walz. The American people deserve to fully understand how deep Governor Walz’s relationship with China goes.”

I am sure that after that story was published, Donald Trump’s campaign team was trying to figure out a way to use this against Harris. We know that the Biden administration was just an extension of the Obama administration, and the Harris administration will likely be the same, bringing in many of the same players to do the same jobs.
