Frustration takes over as GOP ready to make rule changes
Democrats are using every tool in their box to block Trump nominees and judicial appointments.
As it stands right now, in any state where Democrats have both Senate seats, Trump will never get a judge through.
Republicans are finally showing their frustration, with multiple senators now willing to consider rules changes, but is that the smartest move?
Getting Tired
Trump being frustrated is not good for anyone in the Senate because Trump will start to apply pressure.
With nary a judicial appointment going through, Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) started to show some frustration in July.
He stated, "There's certainly interest in looking at options that might enable us to break the logjam and expedite consideration of nominees in a way that, in the end, would benefit both parties when their party has the presidency."
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) added, "This is Chuck Schumer's fault. He's the one that's forcing this. And, and so I don't know what he expects to happen, but we will have to have some reforms if this is the way they continue to operate.”
Trump Boils Over
Recently, Trump started a beef with Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) for allowing the Dems to block his judicial appointments by not giving blue slip approval of his nominees.
Trump had posted, "Put simply, the president of the United States will never be permitted to appoint the person of his choice because of an ancient, and probably unconstitutional, ‘CUSTOM.’"
Trump added, "The only candidates that I can get confirmed for these most important positions are, believe it or not, Democrats! Chuck Grassley should allow strong Republican candidates to ascend to these very vital and powerful roles, and tell the Democrats, as they often tell us, to go to HELL!"
Trump also hurled some personal insults at Grassley, which only made the 91-year-old Senator dig in deeper.
Time for Change
Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-WY) is now calling for those changes, completely fed up with Democrat obstructionism.
He stated, “Confirming even the most routine nominees is now a bitter fight. It is time to change Senate confirmation rules.
“Through dilatory warfare, Democrats have broken their ‘advice and consent’ responsibilities. This drastic a slow-roll has never happened under a modern president.”
All these blockages do is create headlines for Democrats, as the administration comes to a standstill and the American people pay the price. This is why Congress has such a low approval rating, and the American people become more and more disenfranchised. The system is broken, and the Democrat hatred for Trump is only making it worse. Fed up… that is what we all are becoming with this endless cycle of childish behavior by people paid to run the country.
