Gabbard says she is firing 100 staffers over chatroom abuse
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is downsizing her department, but it has nothing to do with DOGE.
Gabbard discovered a chatroom sex scandal in her department, and she is now vowing to fire all the employees involved.
The Scandal
It was recently reported that chat logs on “Intelink,” a National Security Agency messaging platform, revealed some rather racy conversations among intelligence agency employees.
According to the Fox News report, they were discussing “experiences with gender-reassignment surgery, artificial genitalia, hormone therapy, polyamory and pronoun usage.” The report claimed that one of the messages from a transgender Defense Intelligence Agency officer offered graphic details of sexual encounters after underdoing the transition surgery.
Some of the agencies involved were the NSA, U.S. Naval Intelligence, and the Defense Intelligence Agency. After the report surfaced, the NSA stated, "NSA hosts the Intelink service for the Intelligence Community. As the service provider, NSA takes very seriously the allegations in this reporting, and, if accurate, they would be violations of longn-standing Intelligence Community policy.
"The Intelligence Community places great trust in those personnel that we authorize to access U.S. Government systems, and in return we expect full compliance with all laws, policies and regulations which govern our work."
Gabbard Vows to Fire Staffers
Tulsi Gabbard announced on Tuesday that she had identified staffers who had partaken in the salacious conversations and vowed to have them all fired.
She stated, “When you see what these people were saying, they were brazen in using an NSA platform intended for professional use to conduct this — kind of really, really horrific behavior.”
“And they were brazen in doing this, because when was the last time anyone was really held accountable? Certainly not over the last four years, certainly not over the last 10, maybe 20 years, [as] we look at some of the biggest violations of the American people’s trust in the intelligence community.”
Gabbard also posted to X, “These disgusting chat groups were immediately shut down when [President Trump] issued his EO ending the DEI insanity the Biden Admin was obsessed with. Our IC must be focused on our core mission: ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of the American people.”
It Gets Worse
The former FBI agent who was allegedly protecting Hunter Biden during the investigation into his gun charges and tax evasion, Tim Thibault, has also raised some red flags.
According to reports, Thibault was sharing sensitive investigative information as well as a nude picture of his girlfriend via his official government email to people outside the FBI.
As an example, one of the files that Thibault shared was in regard to the investigation of pro-life activist Lauren Handy, who had received a five-year sentence for a violation of the FACE Act. Hardy was pardoned by Donald Trump after he took office.
Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) pounced, calling the behavior “unseemly,” so this is yet one more black eye on an agency that is about to be overhauled by Kash Patel. I have to admit, it is a bit shocking to me how fall the agency has fallen under the leadership of Comey and Wray.
