Georgia Democrat Rep. David Scott Snaps at Press: Report
There have been a couple of House members getting some attention over the last few days for throwing out vulgarities in public.
The big one, however, was a Democrat House member going off on a photographer for taking a picture of him as he approached the Capitol.
That’s Not Nice
Rep. David Scott (D-GA), 79, is yet another member of Congress who is up there in age and has people wondering if he can still do the job. Like Biden, there have been calls questioning Scott’s mental fitness, which surely will not be made any better by his latest outburst.
As Scott was being wheeled into the Capitol, he saw cameras snapping, and he went off, stating, “Who gave you the right to take my picture, a–hole?” Well, he is a public figure and the media has every right to take his picture.
His spokesperson later railed that the media should not be “tak[ing] a picture[s] of us as we’re trying to get into the Capitol.” That is just utterly ridiculous.
Time to Go
Scott is the chair of the House Agricultural Committee and has been since 2021, but there is now a feeling on the Hill that Scott can no longer lead the committee.
One Democrat, who would not allow their name to be published, stated, “I haven’t met a member who isn’t concerned. There was a lot of frustration heading into the markup. We needed to have a comms strategy and a legislative strategy, but it took us a long time to get organized.”
Another Democrat added, “I imagine just about every person is in favor of new leadership, and if there is anyone who says otherwise, then they’re not telling the truth.” Another added, “David Scott is Exhibit A for term limits. He was a respected, talented member who has become diminished. And it’s painful for people to watch.”
The real problem here is that these lawmakers are not willing to go on the record to put more public pressure on having Scott removed from office. Without a name, it equates to watercooler gossip.
Crenshaw Raises Eyebrows
These snaps are not limited to the Democrats, as Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) has been snapping more than usual at the media over allegations made about his finances. Crenshaw has never had a problem calling out trolls, and we can go back to his clashes with Alex Stein on this subject. Those two have gone back and forth for quite some time.
More recently, Crenshaw went off on people hammering him for supporting the omnibus bill that was going through Congress, also pushing back about his track record in the market. Crenshaw is now reportedly worth about $8 million, with most of his worth having come after being elected to Congress.
When X personality “Catturd” called out Crenshaw, he went off, stating, “I live in Atascocita, just outside Houston. If you think I’m ‘rich,’ you’re a fucking idiot. The people getting rich off politics are the ‘influencers’ like Catturd selling their platforms to the highest bidder. Sorry to break to it yall, that’s the truth.”
Crenshaw had also posted, “Anonymous coward like ‘catturd’ talking shit without any evidence. I’m used to it. Sorry I was guy fighting the wars that little bitches like you would never dare to. One of us has actually served this country and continues to, while losers like you make money being trolls on social media.”
I am not a fan of Catturd either, as his opinion changes like the wind, but Crenshaw is not doing himself any favors with these types of replies. He is quickly losing favor among conservatives, and it would not be a surprise to see him primaried if these types of outbursts continue. To that point, former Hannity producer Kylie Jane Kremer stated, “Completely despicable and abhorrent behavior from a current congressman. You should not only be ashamed of yourself to speaking to a constituent this way but you also more than deserve to be primaried.”
