GOP congressman bails on CNN after confrontation at town hall

Last week, Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) had a bit of an uncomfortable moment during a town hall.

After being aggressively called out during the event by voters angry over Trump's quest to expand presidential powers, McCormick canceled an interview scheduled with CNN.

The Town Hall

The town hall event was held in Roswell, and the liberal horde showed up in force to confront McCormick.

One of the main issues his constituents had was Trump's attempt to downsize the government, which would result in thousands of government employees losing their jobs.

One person claimed that Trump had "declared himself king," while another claimed "tyranny is rising in the White House." Another called it "such a radical and extremist and sloppy approach."

McCormick responded, "When you talk about tyranny, when you talk about presidential power, I remember having the same discussion with Republicans when Biden was elected."

Canceled

McCormick was then scheduled to appear on CNN with Jake Tapper, but he backed out at the last second.

Tapper informed his viewers, stating, “He [McCormick] was booked when we started the show. We were under the impression he was coming, but he canceled the appearance less than an hour ago.”

I don't necessarily think this was the best move by McCormick, who now looks like he is running scared and afraid to answer questions.

If you are going to support Trump's positions, you have to know you are going to come under fire, especially from the media and liberals, and you better be able to stand tall and justify those decisions or you are no better than the Dems who lied about Biden's mental fitness.

CNN Tanking

CNN is desperate to lure in new viewers, which would explain why the network is booking more Republicans lately.

The network that introduced an "all news" programming schedule has been bottoming out.

In the latest Nielsen rankings, CNN averaged only 92,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, the most important demo when it comes to TV viewers. That was down from an already low of 94,000 last year.

The network's primetime ratings are surely going to drive a programming change, with its viewership shrinking by roughly half over the last year, down to 405,000 primetime viewers. The network trails all the big boys, now rated 5th among the top cable news networks. And I am just not sure how much longer the network can last if does not stop this downward spiral.
