GOP Senator believes Russians using America as ‘patsy’
Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine are not going well, at least on the surface, even though Trump and the administration say otherwise.
We are now starting to see some Republicans distance themselves from Trump, even calling Trump out, claiming that Putin is making our country look foolish.
Trump Expresses Doubts
Trump promised that he would have the Russian-Ukraine war over on day one of his administration, if not sooner.
Now the media is starting to call Trump out on this, causing him to snap at a reporter last week. While Trump has tried to say positive things on this, even he is now expressing concerns that Russia may not want peace.
After having a discussion with Ukrainian President Zelensky, Trump stated, “There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days.”
He later added, “It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war, he’s just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through 'Banking' or 'Secondary Sanctions?’ Too many people are dying!!!”
Grassley Calling Out Trump
Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), a huge Trump supporter in the Senate, now appears to be losing faith in the process.
To that point, Grassley recently posted, “IVE SEEN ENOUGH KILLING OF INNOCENT UKRAINIAN women + children.
“President Trump pls put the toughest of sanctions on Putin,” the senator added. “U ought to c from clear evidence that he is playing America as a patsy.”
This is not a good sign for Trump because he is also losing faith from voters, who are giving Trump a very short leash in terms of delivering on his agenda, as is reflected in recent polling.
Lowest Rating in Decades
Generally speaking, the American people will give a president a pass in his first 100 days to get his agenda in place and see some results, but that is not the case with Trump.
The latest ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll showed Trump with the lowest 100-day approval rating in eight decades, and one of the reasons is that Trump’s foreign policy has been disappointing to voters so far.
Only 39% approved for Trump’s job performance thus far, with a disapproval rating of 55%, for a net -16%. The previous low was Trump in 2017, with a 42% approval rating, which was the lowest since 1945.
The other big problem for Trump was promising an immediate upswing in the economy, and people are still getting hurt at the grocery store and gas station. If you guys recall, I warned everyone that I thought Trump was overpromising during the campaign, and I have been proven right. This is beyond damaging for the GOP, which drew in more minorities and young voters than it had in years. And now we are going to lose them all unless Trump can turn this all around rather quickly.
