Governor Hochul in danger of losing election if Stefanik runs
The GOP dreams of getting a governor in the New York mansion, something they have not done in quite some time.
As it turns out, if Trump’s favorite Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) runs, Hochul could actually lose this race.
Teasing…
This all got started a few months ago when polls were put out of a potential matchup between Stefanik and Hochul.
In the first set of polling, Hochul was only leading Stefanik by one point, which really got people talking.
Currently, there are no Republicans in the race as everyone is waiting for Hochul, but there are independents entering that could really hurt Democrats.
This has led to heavy speculation that Trump may pressure Stefanik into running, setting her up with an administration appointment if she loses.
Clearing the Way
Donald Trump does appear to be clearing the way by endorsing other possible candidates for different positions.
For instance, Trump endorsed New York Rep. Mike Lawler and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman for the posts they currently hold.
Trump owes Stefanik after pulling her ambassador post, so it does look like he is ready to toss her a major bone even if she loses this race.
John Catsimatidis, a New York grocery store mogul and prominent Trump supporter, stated, “By endorsing Blakeman and Lawler for re-election to their current positions, it looks to me like he is trying to clear the way.”
It’s Getting Tight
Everyone is getting excited about how tight the polling is, and Trump clearly wants her in the race, stating, “Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is GREAT!!!”
More polling is now out in the race, and Stefanik is still holding her own, with the possibility of more people entering the race on the other side, there is a real chance that she can win this race.
I love the idea of Stefanik running in this election and taking the mansion, but I do feel like Trump owes her and needs to have a great position lined up for her if she does lose the election and loses her seat in the process.
Having said all that, at this point in the game, Congress is far more important than one blue-state mansion. We have to hold Congress in 2026 or things are going to get really ugly in for Trump’s final two years as well as the 2028 election.
