Hegseth pulls officials from ‘globalist’ conference
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is stirring the pot again.
Several Pentagon officials were supposed to attend a conference in Aspen this weekend, but Hegseth has decided to pull them at the last minute, even though several other Trump officials will be partaking in the festivities.
The conference
The Aspen Security Conference says its mission is to address key national security challenges and to promote peace by convening decision-makers in resolutely non-partisan public and private forums.
The site goes on to say, “Through the Rising Leaders Program, the next generation of American national security leaders works across the aisle— and across government, Congress, industry, non-profits, think tanks, the military, the academy, and media—to grow and problem-solve together, as a new generation of foreign policy leaders."
Now, I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a hippie lovefest to me, and it apparently sounded that way to Hegseth.
To that point, he announced that his team would not be attending.
Not going
Several of our high-ranking military officials were set to go on what will amount to be yet another paid vacation on the American taxpayer.
Hegseth said, “No,” however.
A Pentagon spokesperson stated that Hegseth believes the conference "promotes the evil of globalism, disdain for our great country, and hatred for the President of the United States.”
He further stated that our Department of Defense "has no interest in legitimizing an organization that has invited former officials who have been the architects of chaos abroad and failure at home."
Let me be clear
Senior Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell made it quite clear that from now on, the Pentagon will not be attending such events.
He stated, "Senior Department of Defense officials will no longer be participating at the Aspen Security Forum because their values do not align with the values of the DoD.
"The Department will remain strong in its focus to increase the lethality of our warfighters, revitalize the warrior ethos, and project Peace Through Strength on the world stage. It is clear the ASF is not in alignment with these goals."
The conference responded, "For more than a decade, the Aspen Security Forum has welcomed senior officials – Republican and Democrat, civilian and military – as well as senior foreign officials and experts, who bring experience and diverse perspectives on matters of national security."
