Hogg likely out as DNC vice chair
It would appear that the leaders of the Democrat Party are going to get what they want.
Members have decided to hold a new election for the vice chair, and David Hogg, who currently holds that position, has stated that he will not run again.
Ruining Me!
When Hogg won the position, he was clear about his intentions, but when he actually made a move to put his plan in action, Democrats objected.
Hogg wanted to identify Democrats who were not doing their jobs, and he planned on primarying them out of their seats, but that did not sit well with DNC Chair Ken Martin.
Martin was so upset that Hogg was getting all the attention, he went off during a phone Zoom meeting, stating, “I’ll be very honest with you, for the first time in my 100 days on this job … the other night I said to myself for the first time, I don’t know if I wanna do this anymore.”
According to Martin, all the attention being paid to Hogg was jeopardizing his ability to do his job as the chair of the DNC.
Redo
With the party leaders upset over Hogg’s vision, they made the unprecedented move to do a do-over on the vice chair position.
This was done after Oklahoma DNC member Kalyn Free challenged the elections, saying that the current rules unfairly gave male members an edge.
So, in the name of DEI, the members voted 294-99 to redo the election, but only for the vice chair positions.
Call it whatever you want, but this was an organized coup against Hogg to remove him from his post.
I’m Out
Hogg could see the writing on the wall here, and he had to know that running was futile, so he announced that he would not be running in the new election.
Hogg stated, “I came into this role to play a positive role in creating the change our party needs. It is clear that there is a fundamental disagreement about the role of a Vice Chair — and it’s okay to have disagreements. What isn’t okay is allowing this to remain our focus when there is so much more we need to be focused on.
“Ultimately, I have decided to not run in this upcoming election so the party can focus on what really matters. I need to do this work with Leaders We Deserve, and it is going to remain my number one mission to build the strongest party possible.”
Hogg wanted to do nothing more than hold party members accountable, and the party balked, which just goes to show you how messed up our political system is these days. He did not hide his agenda, yet when he put in play, the old guard, who likely thought they could get him off his spot, decided to toss him out. I cannot wait to see if Hogg turns on the party or not. Don’t be surprised to see Hogg move toward a third-party after being removed via an organized coup by the people he has been supporting for a decade.
