Homan says information about Colorado ICE raid was leaked
Tom Homan was the right man for the job, and he is proving it every day as our new Border Czar.
He has been successfully rounding up criminal illegals, but the last roundup in Colorado fell short of expectations, and Homan is livid for the reason why.
Locking Them Up
Recently, Homan held a raid in Colorado to go after illegal immigrant gang members who have more or less taken over apartment complexes in Colorado
DHS was hoping to round up about 100 gang members, but they appeared to fall short.
As agents swept through the city, Mayor Mike Johnston was crying the blues, stating, “We are in contact with Denver Public Schools and other city partners and have confirmed that there has not been any activity in schools, hospitals, or churches.
“Denver Police and city authorities were not involved in these actions, nor were we given prior notice. We will continue to monitor these activities throughout the day.”
There Was a Leak
We know they came up short because Homan was livid when discussing the raids on Fox News. He believes there was a leak that tipped gang members off, leading them to come up short.
Homan stated, “We're not going to tolerate it anymore. This is not a game. When we show up at these sites, this is a dangerous job for the men and women of ICE and Border Patrol and all the DOJ agencies.
“To have this type of interference puts our officers at great risk, not only the officers, it puts the aliens at great risk because anything can happen when we take our eyes off the goal here, so we're addressing it immediately today.
"This is not a joke. This is serious business, and they need to stop, or we're going to prosecute them through [the] Department of Justice.”
Getting Full
While Homan was disappointed in this raid, ICE is reportedly already over capacity at holding facilities to the point they are reportedly releasing some migrant detainees.
A report broke this week that ICE facilities are now at 109%, leading to ICE releasing migrants rather than overstuffing the holding facilities. The agency stated, "We are exploring every solution including working with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and our state and local law enforcement partners, asking Congress for increased funding, and scrutinizing case files to quickly remove criminal aliens with executable final orders of removal from Department of Justice immigration judges.”
One of the issues is that ICE is required to release migrants after a certain time passes regardless of whether they have gone before a judge or not. They can also only hold children for so long before they need to be released.
The good news is that according to ICE, they are keeping tabs on these individuals, so even if they are released, they can track them down later to get them before a judge. This is why it is so important for Congress to get that budget bill passed because Homan clearly needs more money to pull this operation off, yet here we are, only two weeks in, and we already sending illegals back to the streets.
