ICE arrests 7,400 in first 9 days of Trump administration
Border Czar Tom Homan and Donald Trump have delivered on their promise of cracking down on illegal border crossers from day one.
Reports broke this weekend that so far, ICE has arrested about 7,400 illegals in the first nine days of the administration.
We Mean Business
In the days leading up to the Trump inauguration, Homan warned everyone who would listen that ICE would no longer be sitting on the sidelines. The second Trump was sworn in, ICE would be doing what it gets paid to do… apprehend illegal border crossers.
In mid-January, just days before Trump was to be sworn in, Homan told Fox News, "On Tuesday, ICE is finally going to go out and do their job. We're going to take the handcuffs off ICE.”
While this was happening, liberal immigration activist groups were prepping illegals. For example, Any Huamani, a community organizer with the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council, was leading training for illegals in terms of their rights after being arrested, as well as creating a group chat for the rapid response team.
Huamani stated, "Obviously each scenario is different. If they're there to detain someone, rapid response teams respond in a different way. We have to yell out 'These are your rights. You know, who can we call? Give us a phone number.' And we're also trying to record … ICE agents, if there's an ICE truck or if it's an unrecognizable truck."
Going to Get Worse
When the arrests started to take place, for some reason, the media acted surprised. Both Homan and Trump told everyone exactly what was going to happen, yet there was shock and awe when Trump delivered on the mass deportation promise.
Once again, the media ran to Homan for answers, and he warned them that the administration was just getting started. About a week into the Trump administration taking over, Homan stated, "You're going to see the numbers steadily increase, the number of arrests nationwide as we open up the aperture.
“Right now, it's concentrating on public safety threats, national security threats. That's a smaller population. So we're going to do this on a priority basis. That’s President Trump's promise. But as that aperture opens, there'll be more arrests nationwide."
When the media pushed back about the administration not stopping at the estimated 700,000 to one million who have criminal records, Homan informed the media that crossing the border illegally makes them a criminal, stating, "If you’re in the country illegally, you're on the table because it's not OK to, you know, violate the laws of this country. You got to remember, every time you enter this country illegally, you violated a crime under Title Eight, the United States Code 1325, it's a crime.”
Thousands of Arrests Made
Donald Trump had stated that he would like to see about 1,200 arrests per day, and he is not far off that total right now.
As of January 31, 2025, ICE had arrested more than 7,400 people since Trump took office, with the more recent daily totals approaching nearly 1,000 illegals per day. Not only that, but Trump and Hegseth announced that they were going to use Guantanamo Bay to hold the worst of the worst, such as MS-13 gang members and members of other violent gangs and cartels who have crossed the border.
Trump stated, "Today I'm also signing an executive order to instruct the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantánamo Bay. Most people don't even know about it."
This is one of my two or three top issues in terms of wanting Trump to deliver, and thus far, he has not disappointed. Illegals get zero empathy from me because we have a process, and it must be respected and followed. Again, I fail to see how Democrats do not understand the repercussions of open borders, or perhaps they do know and are ignoring them to crash the economy. Either way, kick them all out.
