IRS official reportedly fired after speaking against Trump
If there is one lesson that was learned by Trump during his first administration, it is that he will no longer tolerate any official in his administration who is working against him.
We have seen terminations in almost every department on this front.
Now, if reports are accurate, we can add an IRS official to that list.
NSC Officials Terminated
One of the more controversial firings by this administration happened after Trump reportedly met with right-wing influencer Laura Loomer.
Loomer had met with Trump to discuss the activities of numerous officials, and they were all soon thereafter fired.
Trump, when asked if Loomer had anything to do with the firings, denied it, stating, “No, not at all.”
Loomer, however, had filled her social media account with posts touting the fact that she was responsible for opening Trump’s eyes regarding the behavior of these individuals.
Leave and Speak Out
One narrative we have also seen is that many of these officials who spoke up against Trump would become some of Trump’s biggest enemies in the media.
For instance, former Defense Secretary Mark Esper called Trump a “threat to democracy.”
Sarah Matthews, a former aide in the administration, observed, “These are folks who saw him up close and personal and saw his leadership style.
“The American people should listen to what these folks are saying because it should be alarming that the people that Trump hired to work for him a first term are saying that he’s unfit to serve for a second term.”
Hush
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officer Niki Wilkinson reportedly spoke up against Trump, saying that Trump and the Republicans were “fear mongering” and “falsely describing” reports that former IRS staffer Holly Paz was discriminating against conservative groups by auditing them.
She posted on LinkedIn, “Such a farce! Interesting how Senators outside the IRS are fear mongering and falsely describing the work.
“They have no idea what Examiners found in those audits, which in fact exposed fraud or noncompliance in the passthrough area as for years the IRS didn’t effectively audit them.”
While Wilkenson did not comment on her current employment status, the belief is that she was fired for having spoken up against the narrative that Trump and Republicans are pushing. This is still a developing story, so we will have to follow up to see how Democrats react and if there will be any litigation regarding her termination.
