J6 defendant who was pardoned arrested on solicitation charge
On his first day in office, as promised, Donald Trump offered a blanket pardon to virtually every January 6 defendant, including those who beat up on police officers.
One of those pardons has already backfired on Trump, as the pardoned individual was just arrested again.
The Pardon
Trump created the “GRANTING PARDONS AND COMMUTATION OF SENTENCES FOR CERTAIN OFFENSES RELATING TO THE EVENTS AT OR NEAR THE UNITED STATES CAPITOL ON JANUARY 6, 2021” order on his first day in office.
While it may not be popular, I have spoken against his order numerous times, and I will continue to do so simply because I think the blanket pardon was wrong.
As I have stated in previous reports on this, it is not the 1,300 or so trespassers I am worried about, but rather those charged with sedition and assault of police officers.
First, you cannot be a law and order president if you are pardoning people who beat up on cops. Second, Trump has opened himself up to impeachment for having lent aid and comfort to insurrectionists (sedition is a derivative of insurrection, and you better believe Democrats will be all over this if they take back the House in 2026).
Change of Heart
There was talk about these pardons leading up to the election, but nobody really believed Trump would let them all out.
As a matter of fact, just days before the inauguration, JD Vance was asked about the pardons, and he said that violent offenders clearly needed to be left in jail. However, he quickly changed his tune when Trump released the order, stating many of the defendants did not have due process.
An Axios report gave a different version of the story, with an alleged adviser claiming that Trump said, “F -k it: Release 'em all.” Again, this is an anonymous source used by Axios, so take that for what you will.
When sources were asked about Vance’s previous comments, believing that perhaps Trump changed his mind at the last second, the source stated, “The president didn't change his mind. He just made up his mind and Vance got a little over his skis on Fox, but it's no big deal."
Arrested Again
When you pardon someone, you own what happens after they are pardoned, even if it happened before the crime you pardoned them for, and that is what just happened to Trump.
There is simply no way I believe Trump reviewed every one of those cases, which brings us to Andrew Taake, who, had Trump checked his records, he would have seen that Taake was facing charges for solicitation of a minor in 2016.
On February 4, he was arrested and taken into custody, with the Harris County DA’s office stating, “Taake was arrested after a surveillance operation conducted on February 4th confirmed Taake was staying at a residence in Leon County. Taake’s bond in Harris County has been revoked.”
This is what happens when you make knee-jerk decisions. The media has already pounced all over this, and now Trump is associated with an alleged pedophile. And when the 2026 and 2028 elections arrive, the GOP will have to answer for Trump letting people who violently beat up police officers out of jail before they served their full sentence. If we lose, just remember this post because it will be at the root of that loss, especially if police unions no longer support Republicans in those elections.
