Judge halts Musk access to Treasury payment systems

When Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk to head DOGE, it created a wave of panic among Democrats.

After exposing alleged fraud and waste, Democrats immediately moved to have Musk's access to government records blocked, including Treasury payment systems

Musk is Raising Alarms

Musk hit the ground running with DOGE, immediately exposing waste and fraud at USAID.

Musk then vowed to investigate more government fraud. This required Musk to have access to Treasury payment systems, which left the public up in arms.

Donald K. Sherman, executive director and chief counsel of the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, stated, "There's no community of Americans that this system does not touch, and so I think the concern is that access to this system including personally identifiable information has been ceded to the president's billionaire friend for reasons that are passing understanding."

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) added, "Controlling the system could allow the Trump Administration to 'unilaterally' — and illegally — cut off payments for millions of Americans, putting at risk the financial security of families and businesses based on political favoritism or the whims of Mr. Musk and those on his team who have worked their way inside."

Dems Sue

Democrats are pretending that Musk's access to personal information is a danger to everyone. Of course, these are the same people who have given their information to social media sites like Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok. Trust me, Musk does not need access via the Treasury to have this information.

But, that did not stop a group of Democrat AGs, led by New York Attorney General Letitia James, from suing to block Musk from having this access.

James issued a statement, saying, “As the richest man in the world, Elon Musk is not used to being told ‘no,’ but in our country, no one is above the law.

"The President does not have the power to give away our private information to anyone he chooses, and he cannot cut federal payments approved by Congress.”

Judge Grants Injunction

Had Joe Biden formed a committee to expose government waste, he could have asked George Soros to lead the charge, and there is not a single Democrat that would have stood up and objected.

This protest is merely because it is Trump and Musk, nothing more. The suit should have been defeated in court, yet another Biden-appointed judge, Jeannette Vargas, blocked Musk, at least for the time being.

The good news is that Vargas remains unconvinced that there is anything illegal going on here, writing that the plaintiffs "have not demonstrated that they are entitled to the broad and sweeping relief they seek, which would far exceed the scope of the present TRO (Temporary restraining order)."

Her ruling was due to the possible disclosure of states' bank records, not the true issue at hand of DOGE getting access. So, this is a loss, for now, but it may not last long. Vargas is allowing the Trump administration to make changes that will protect this information. We should see more movement in this case within the next 30 days after a report is submitted on March 24 on the matter.
