Justice Roberts Being Targeted by Supreme Court Leaks

Over the last several days, a report regarding the Supreme Court by the New York Times has been creating quite a buzz.

The report published leaked Supreme Court communications between Chief Justice John Roberts and other members of the court regarding the Donald Trump cases.

The author wanted to turn the information into a smear campaign against Roberts, but anyone who knows anything about the court knows that it just shows that Johnson was doing his job.

Uhm, That is What the Supreme Court Chief Justice Does

When the case regarding presidential powers and immunity came before court, Roberts had sent a not to his fellow justices on the matter that, in part, stated, “I think it likely that we will view the separation of powers analysis differently” from the appeals court.

This was not Roberts pressuring other justices, but simply making them aware of the case and the ramifications of the decision that was before them.

The piece accused Roberts of “deploying his authority to steer rulings that benefited Mr. Trump.”

What Roberts actually did was simply reinforce rulings that dated back decades that protected sitting presidents from being prosecuted for having committed official acts of the office.

What it does not consider immune from prosecution, nor has it ever, are acts that are committed by a sitting president that are outside the purview of the office.

I can tell you for a fact that Trump’s hush money case will never be immune. Having said that, I believe Trump will prevail on some level during his appeals. This is a case about Trump’s business and has nothing at all to do with his presidency, so there will be no immunity.

The second case regarding January 6 is also likely not to warrant immunity because Trump was acting as a candidate, not a president, when attending that rally. A case could be made he was acting as a president calling for election integrity, but I don’t believe the courts will see it that way.

So, yet again, we have a misinformed journalist doing nothing more than creating mistrust and animosity toward a conservative member of the Supreme Court for no other reason than to score political points for the Democrats.
