Kentucky State Senator Injured in Lawn-mowing Accident

A bit of a shocking story comes out of Kentucky this week regarding a longtime state politician.

State Senator Johnnie Turner was critically injured over the weekend.

Turner was reportedly involved in an accident with this riding mower and rushed to a local hospital.

What The…

AP reported on Monday that Turner was apparently injured while mowing his lawn.

The report stated that while on his riding mower, he plunged into his empty swimming pool.

He was then transferred to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

As of the last report, he was listed in stable condition.

Senate President Robert Stivers updated everyone on social media, offering prayers, as well as stating, “I just talked with Johnnie’s daughter and he is improving. Please keep him in your prayers.”

Harlan County Judge Executive Dan Mosley added, “I’m praying for him and his family and hoping for a speedy recovery.

“I’m thankful for the quick response by the firefighters, EMS and police officers.”

Turner started his political career by winning his seat in the 1998 election cycle, representing K-88.

He was then elected to represent K-29 during the 2020 cycle.

Prior to entering politics, Turne served in the United States Army as a medic, and later as counsel for Harlan County Public Schools.

His first run in office ended in 2003 when he lost the 2002 election cycle after the districts were redrawn.

He ran again for office in 2016 but withdrew from the race. He then ran again during the 2020 cycle for the seat he holds today.

Get well soon, sir.
