Lawmaker says Mandani plan not realistic
Zohran Mamdani is making a lot of promises for freebies that have people like AOC and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) going crazy that New York City could be the first real socialist city in the country.
Mandani wants to end the housing market and create communes, as well as provide all transportation free of charge.
He is also looking for the city to own grocery stores, but a GOP lawmaker just poured water all over that idea.
Meet my buddy
AOC invited Mamdani to the Hill this week to meet all her Democrat friends in the hope of getting them to endorse Mamdani in his mayoral race.
She stated, "I think a lot of people just need to get to know folks before they issue an endorsement.
“I hope that this conversation can be constructive to bring the party together and rally behind our nominee.”
The DNC Chair has already accepted Mamdani into the party, and there are rumors that he is going to meet with Minority House Leader Jeffries (D-NY) to quash their beef, so let’s see how long it takes the rest of the Democrat Party to sell out.
Hateful father
It turns out, Mamdani does not fall far from the tree from which he was born, as posts from his father, Mahmood Mamdani, recently resurfaced.
Here are just a few of the gems from that fine individual…
"When all ranks of the Occupation, from the armed settler to the settler state, claim 'the right of self-defense', what language is left for those who defend themselves against the Occupation but the right to resist?”
"The resistance this time began in Jerusalem and spread to Gaza, now the West Bank and Palestinian communities beyond. This is not a conflict between Israel and Hamas. We are witnessing something far more meaningful, the birth of the Third Intifadah against settler colonialism!”
Not reasonable
There are plenty of reasons not to like this guy, but it all comes down to reality. If we put the antisemitism aside, can his plan really work?
Rep. Mike Rulli (R-OH) says no, stating, "This will be a bullet into the heart of the U.S. grocery industry, if this caught on.”
In reality, and I know this because my brother worked in grocery store management for more than a decade, these stores operate on very thin profit margins already. If the city comes in and takes over stores, all the big chains, and most local stores in that area are going to go out of business, only contributing to unemployment.
That gets us to a situation where the government controls the only sources of food in the city… so how scary is that? Can you say food rations? Can you say breadlines? That is what Mamdani wants to turn New York City into… and we have not even started to discuss how much taxes would have to go up to pay for this idiotic little socialist dream of his.
