Liberals show up at Minneapolis funeral to protest JD Vance

The lack of class by some people in this country never ceases to amaze me.

We have seen protesters show up at funerals in the past, and it has always enraged me.

It just happened again, as Vance was in Minneapolis to show his respects, but some protesters showed up to disrupt the day.

Westboro Baptist Church

Westboro Baptist Church is an anti-gay organization that tried to crash funerals in Orlando after the mass shooting at a gay club.

It’s only a small group of about three dozen people, but they did their best to make a scene.

To counter the protesters, a group of people dressed up like Angels and took to guarding the perimeter to ensure the WBC could not disrupt the funeral.

One of the angels stated, "I think our presence here is just to show support for the families of the victims and we want to make sure that we're an ally.”

Hate Mongers

One of the more disturbing protests I saw in recent years was the protesting of soldiers' funerals who had fallen in duty for this country.

Christina Misner was burying her husband, Sgt Gordon Misner, who fell during his second tour in Iraq, when she heard, "America is doomed. God is your enemy. You can't wave enough flags to bring that boy back."

The protesters were again from Westboro Baptist Church, which regularly tries to disrupt military funerals because they believe soldiers are evil.

Fred Phelps, pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church, when challenged on interrupting the grieving family, responded, "Well, that's too bad, isn't it? They think I can't preach at times like this? I think I can preach at times like this."

Tone Deaf

This time, it was not Westboro, but local groups who were pushing progressive issues and flying a pride flag that decided it was a good idea to crash the funeral to make their point.

As Vance and the Second Lady, Usha Vance, arrived, they were heckled with calls of “you’re a coward” and “do better” from the crowd. Journalist Dustin Grage noted, "Leftist protestors proceed to shout ‘You’re a coward’ and ‘do better’ while flying a rainbow flag. Talk about tone-deaf."

When Vance was asked about the day, he responded, "I have never had a day that will stay with me like this day did."

I would imagine there were some people in that church that day who actually agreed with the protesters, but I would also say they were probably just as horrified as I was at their behavior. There is a time and a place for everything, and crashing a funeral to protest a political point is just not the time for that. Completely classless.
