Manchin Reportedly Considering Run After Biden Withdrawal

Everyone is assuming that Kamala Harris is going to get the nod, but don’t count your chickens just yet.

Now that Biden has officially stepped down and the Democrats will have to have an open convention, rumors are flying everywhere that Senator Joe Manchin (I-W.V.) is considering running.

Manchin would have to re-register as a Democrat, which would not be a problem, but he would clearly present a problem for Harris.

On the Electors

After Biden withdrew, Harris stated that she was going to earn the nod, but that is not really the case.

Because of this little game that Democrats played, the American people will not be voting for the candidate who will face off against Trump.

No, the Democrat electors will make that decision, and they are all Biden people who were put in place, at least for the most part.

And Biden has already endorsed Harris, so this does look rigged for Harris to get the nod.

But that was before Manchin rumors started to fly around.

Harris is combative, whereas Manchin has avoided direct attacks against Trump and has been preaching unity across the party lines for years.

In fact, the combativeness of the Democrat Party is one of the reasons that Manchin decided to change to an independent, even though he still caucuses with the Democrats.

Fox News’ Bret Baier broke the news that Manchin is considering a run, “Even just to have the discussion of bringing the party back to the center.”

Because of the battles Manchin had with Democrats, I don't know how the electors will see him.

Having said that, if this was up to voters, something tells me that Manchin would give Harris a run for her money.

At the very least, I think the Dems should have to reselect electors that have no allegiance to anyone in the party.

If not, as much as I would love to say that Manchin has a chance, I fear the electors will follow Biden’s lead and rubberstamp Harris at the convention.
