Mark Cuban, Mavericks Co-Owner and Harris Advocate, Scrutinized for Removing Supportive Posts After Election
Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban is facing criticism after deleting posts supporting Vice President Kamala Harris following the presidential election.
Just days after Kamala Harris lost the presidential race to Donald Trump, Mark Cuban removed several of his supportive social media posts.
The controversy began when users on X noticed Cuban’s actions and shared their observations, which were subsequently highlighted by the account Libs on TikTok.
This led to widespread discussion and scrutiny of Cuban's online behavior.
Mark Cuban Defends His Social Media Practices
Responding to the backlash, Cuban stated that he has a longstanding practice of deleting tweets, a routine that includes posts from previous elections. He emphasized that this was not a new practice but one he has adhered to for years.
Cuban explained that he uses a specific app to manage his social media deletions, although he mentioned that the app was discontinued in 2021. Despite the discontinuation, he has continued the practice of removing older posts.
His approach to social media management, Cuban noted, is to regularly clean his digital footprint, referencing deletions from as far back as the 2016 and 2020 elections.
Cuban’s Public Statements During Election Season
In the days leading up to the election, Cuban was vocally critical of Donald Trump, accusing him of avoiding strong, intelligent women.
This was a sentiment he later said was a mistake, following a controversial comment made by President Biden.
After the election results were announced, Cuban took to X to congratulate Donald Trump on his victory. His post acknowledged Trump’s win as “fair and square,” showcasing a public acknowledgment of the election results.
Additionally, Cuban also extended his congratulations to Elon Musk, reflecting his engagement with current events beyond the political sphere.
Readiness to Assist Trump’s Administration
Despite his initial support for Harris, Cuban expressed a willingness to assist Trump’s administration, citing past collaborations during Trump’s earlier term. He referred specifically to initiatives involving healthcare and domestic production of personal protective equipment (PPE).
On a segment on CNBC, Cuban detailed his previous contributions, including working with former White House aide Peter Navarro to establish a domestic mask company. He emphasized his commitment to “America first” and his readiness to contribute similarly during Trump’s new term.
His statements reflect a pragmatic approach to politics, focusing on contribution and cooperation regardless of the administration in power.
