McCarthy: Fetterman Should Be Senate Leader for Dems Instead of Schumer

When Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) ran for office, the GOP came at him with everything it had, so he had every reason to look away and not even entertain talking to Republicans.

Instead, he has been one of the more reasonable Democrats in office, which is likely why former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is suggesting Fetterman take over as Senate Leader to oust current Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

Fetterman Will Support Trump Nominees

The first crack for Democrats was when Fetterman refused to give in to pressure for his support of Israel.

Instead of caving, Fetterman started to taunt progressive protesters who were showing support for Palestine and Hamas, as well as his fellow lawmakers.

More recently, Fetterman stated that he was clearly backing some of Trump’s nominees from the get-go, and he would be willing to meet with people like Pete Hegseth to allow them to convince him they were worthy of the post.

When Dems and the media started to question Fetterman, he pushed right back, stating, “I don’t know why it would be controversial to meet with the nominees, some I can vote for, like the incoming secretary of agriculture, or Marco Rubio or Representative Stefanik. And there’s others, perhaps, that I will not, but whoever I vote, it’s going to be an informed choice. And I see that as doing my job.”

Fetterman Meets with Trump

After Trump was elected, Fetterman decided to head down to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump.

Once the meeting occurred, Trump had nothing but nice things to say about the man who beat Trump’s candidate for the Senate seat in PA.

Trump stated, “He’s a commonsense person. He’s not liberal or conservative. He’s just a commonsense person, which is beautiful.”

Trump later added, “It was a totally fascinating meeting. He’s a fascinating man, and his wife is lovely. They were both up, and I couldn’t be more impressed.”

Time for Leadership Change

McCarthy was recently asked about Fetterman and Democrat leadership, and he stated, “Listen to Fetterman. I mean, Fetterman should be the leader of the Democratic Party if they ever want to win the majority again.”

He later added, “I would expect the Democrats to talk like this a year ago, before the election. Have they not heard what the voters have said? Remember, this isn’t throw everyone out who came here illegally who broke the law… You have to sexually assault somebody, and they still want to protect [them].”

I would tell Republicans and Trump they better be careful because they are creating a bit of a moderate star in Fetterman. They might be making him the favorite on the Democrat ticket for the 2028 election.

Don’t get me wrong, I am glad we have someone to work with in the Senate who is being reasonable, but I am sure there is an end game that Fetterman is working on here, and I think that is the Oval Office. So, like I said… be careful because every positive quote is a campaign ad in 2028.
