Melania Trump slams FBI over Mar-a-Lago raid

Former First Lady Melania Trump recently broke her silence about the infamous raid of Mar-a-Lago that was carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 2022.

Suffice it to say that she is not happy with what happened.

Melania Trump blasted the FBI in a video that she posted to her X account on Saturday. Take a look:

"I never imagined..."

In the video, the former first lady said that she never thought that her privacy would be invaded by the United States government like it was by the FBI during its Mar-a-Lago raid.

"I never imagined my privacy would be invaded by the government here in America. The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched through my personal belongings," Trump said.

She went on to offer a warning to Americans about the importance of our "freedom" and about the importance of making sure the government respects our rights.

"This is not just my story, it serves as a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and rights must be respected," she said.

It is not likely that many Americans would disagree with what Melania Trump had to say here.

Background

It, of course, is not just Melania Trump who was outraged by the FBI's raid on Mar-a-Lago. Her husband, former President Donald Trump, was also outraged as was a good portion of the country.

The FBI conducted the raid, so the agency says, in relation the the alleged mishandling of classified materials by Trump after he left the White House. The case that was brought against Trump has since been thrown out.

Now, Trump is bringing a massive lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

According to Fox News:

Trump is set to sue the Justice Department for $100 million in damages over the government’s unprecedented 2022 raid on his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, with lawyers arguing it was done with "clear intent to engage in political persecution." Trump and his legal team intend to sue the Justice Department for its conduct during the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8, 2022, amid the federal investigation into his alleged improper retention of classified records.

Trump's attorney Daniel Epstein said that Trump, here, is "standing up for all Americans who believe in the rule of law and believe that you should hold the government accountable when it wrongs you." We'll see if Trump is able to do just that.
