Minnesota Muslim leaders issue shock endorsement of Trump
Kamala Harris and Tim Walz may have just been dealt a death blow in this election.
Local Minnesota Muslim and Somali leaders have endorsed Trump. And while this may not impact Minnesota, this could impact another important state in this election.
We Like Trump
Local leadership in Minnesota made it quite clear they prefer Trump over Harris in this election, and for good reason.
One local leader stated, “The reason why is because he’s a fighter. That’s it. We like fighters.
“More importantly, the left left us. They left us. Thirty-three percent of our kids in third grade cannot read at grade level… we are failing in every standard. Eighth graders, 60 percent, cannot do math at grade level. These are our kids.”
He later added, “We talk about economic conditions here. Our conditions is horrible. We can’t afford anything as working class and middle class people.
“Now please understand this, we love our brothers and sisters who are Democrats, but you left us. And because the left left us, join the right, vote for Trump 2024.”
The Numbers
The closest that Trump has been in recent polling in Minnesota is about four points, so it is unlikely he can take the state, but that is not really the issue here.
For one, Trump needs as many votes as he can get even in the states he is destined to lose if he has any hope of winning the popular vote.
Trump lost Minnesota by about 240,000 votes, which equates to about seven percent. If he can get that number down to under five, it would help him start to chip away at the popular vote.
The Muslim population in Minnesota and Michigan are among the largest in the country, but Michigan is in play and a must-win state for Harris. Trump needs to win Michigan or Pennsylvania to have a real shot of winning this election.
The margin in 2020 was only about 150,000 votes, with a state that has 200,000 Muslim voters. So, if the same feelings are in place in Michigan that are in place in Minnesota, this is a real problem for Harris. Currently, Harris and Trump are in a dead heat, with Harris leading two recent polls, Trump leading in three, including the recent New York Times poll, and two polls showing a tie.
Can Trump Do It
The race is setting up very well for Trump right now, but he has to win Georgia and North Carolina for his easiest path. I think Trump takes North Carolina, especially since Harris gave up on the state already. Georgia is still in play, but Trump has a slight lead in the most recent polls.
Trump should take Arizona, which then means he only needs Pennsylvania or Michigan. While I am leaning for Trump in Michigan, PA could be the better spot for him, as Trump was either ahead or tie in all but one of the most recent seven polls. I just don’t see Harris winning both these states, so I think Trump takes it in a nailbiter.
