NASCAR fans explode during Trump appearance at Daytona 500
Donald Trump loves appearing at big sporting events and for NASCAR fans, there is nothing better than the Daytona 500 to kick off the new racing season.
As expected, when Trump appeared, the crowd went ballistic.
Bubba Wallace on Trump
Bubba Wallace is one of the few black drivers in NASCAR and easily the most famous of them.
So, the media jumped all over the opportunity to ask Wallace what he thought about the bad orange man showing up at the Daytona 500.
Wallace did not take the bait, responding that he “couldn’t care less” if Trump showed up for the race or not.
He continued, “We’re here to race. Not for the show.”
Fans Go Nuts
When Trump comes to this race, he does so in rock star form, giving a quick flyover of the track before Air Force One sets down, and the crowd goes nuts.
I am sure the crowd cheering for the plane as it flew overhead drove liberals nuts as Fox Sports was interviewing Chase Elliott at the time, so there was no way to avoid the response with the cameras.
Prior to landing, Trump stated, "This iconic race showcases the fastest, most fearless drivers in motorsports, who represent our Nation’s love of tradition, competition, and automotive innovation. The Daytona 500 brings together people from all walks of life—from lifelong racing fans to first-time spectators—they all join in celebrating a shared passion for speed, adrenaline, and the thrill of the race.
"From the roar of the engines on the track to the echo of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ soaring through the stands, the Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, strength, and unyielding spirit that make America great. That spirit is what will fuel America’s Golden Age, and if we harness it, the future is truly ours."
Trump Message for Drivers
Before the race started, Trump took The Beast for a quick lap around the track to lead the field, which drove the fans wild. This was actually Trump’s second time visiting the race, the first sitting president to have done that.
Trump also addressed the drivers in their cars on the radio, telling them, "This is your favorite. I’m a big fan. I’m a really big fan of you people. (How) you do this, I don’t know.
“But I just want you to be safe. You’re talented people and great people and great Americans. Have a good day. Have a lot of fun and I’ll see you later."
I love seeing presidents attend these types of events because it puts him in our wheelhouse. It’s great to know that the president loves the same things you do, so when he attends baseball games, hockey games, football games, and races, it brings him down to our level, so to speak. It was something that Joe Biden could not be bothered with, but I think this helps drive patriotism... and Trump just relishes in hearing “U-S-A" chants when he walks on the field or track.
