Noem vows to prosecute leakers from ICE raids
Going back to late January and early February, Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, hit the ground running, conducting raids all over the country to deport criminal illegals.
He had high hopes for a raid in Colorado, expecting to round up hundreds of criminal illegals, but the raid only netted one arrest, which led Homan to the belief that the raid had been leaked, which DHS Secretary Noem is now closing the book on.
We Have a Leak
Homan was livid after that raid in Colorado, positive someone gave people a heads up, allowing them to scatter before the feds showed up.
He stated, "We think it’s coming from inside. And we know the first leak in Aurora is under current investigation. We think we’ve identified that person.”
Homan continued, "It’s just not giving the bad guys a heads-up so they can escape apprehension. You’re putting officers' lives at risk. It’s only a matter of time before we walk into a place where there’s going to be a bad guy [who] doesn’t care. He’s going to be sitting in wait to ambush an officer. This is not a game."
Noem them commented, "The FBI is so corrupt. We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law."
We Got Them
Several weeks after her vow to find the leakers, Noem announced that she had tracked down two of them.
She stated, "We have identified two leakers of information here at the Department of Homeland Security who have been telling individuals about our operations and putting law enforcement lives in jeopardy.
“We plan to prosecute these two individuals and hold them accountable for what they've done. We're going to continue to do all that we can to keep America safe.”
DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin added, "We are preparing to refer these perpetrators to the DOJ for felony prosecutions. These individuals face up to 10 years in federal prison. We will find and root out all leakers. They will face prison time, and we will get justice for the American people."
There’s More
Noem appears to have closed the book on the investigation, but not before finding a few heads to put on spikes. When she was asked if she had found all the leakers, it seemed as though she was content with the outcome of her investigation.
She stated, “I have a couple of them identified that are within DHS. And when I’m able to reveal that with the evidence, I’m going to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law, and I’m going to make an example out of them. And just on the way here, I got another notification of another leak.
“And I can’t do anything without it getting leaked, and that’s why we have to have so many ops all over the country all the time that it doesn’t slow us down. So that’s one of the things when I was in New York City today, I said to so many of our law enforcement officers, I said, listen, we don’t have time to kiss each other’s asses.”
As my regular readers know, I had reservations about Noem in this particular role. I have always liked her, except when she started talking about killing doggies (shoot me, I am an animal lover), but it was her lack of experience in this particular field that concerned me, not Noem herself. Thus far, I think she has done an exceptional job and I have zero problem forcing down a plate of crow. I really hope she continues to prove my concerns were wrong.
