Omar finally condemns the attack at Jewish Museum
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has made some controversial comments in the past, and she just did it again.
She did, however, cave, finally admonishing the attacks that took place at the Jewish Museum in DC.
Some People…
The country was first given a taste of what Omar is capable of when she commented on the 9/11 attack.
Omar, while attending an event at CAIR, had stated, "Here's the truth. For far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen and, frankly, I'm tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it.
“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties."
Personally, I don’t think I can ever look past those comments.
Reaction to Hamas
When Hamas attacked Israel, it took a hot minute for Omar to come out against the attacks, and even after she did, she still took a shot at Israel.
After finally condemning the attacks, she stated, "We cannot and will not say today's actions by Palestinian militants are unprovoked. Every day under Israel's system of apartheid is a provocation. The strangling siege on Gaza is a provocation.
"Settlers terrorizing entire Palestinian villages, soldiers raiding and demolishing Palestinian homes, murdering Palestinians in the streets, Israeli ministers calling for genocide and expulsion. These are the provocations of the most extremist right-wing government in Israel's history and an emboldened fascist movement escalating this crisis across the land."
That, again, is something I can never forgive.
Took Long Enough
After the deadly attack at the Jewish Museum in DC, Omar, again, was slow to respond.
When she was approached by a report, she refused to condemn the attacks, instead stating, "I’m going to go for now.”
On Thursday, she finally addressed the murders, stating, “I am appalled by the deadly shooting at the Capital Jewish Museum last night. Holding the victims, their families, and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers. Violence should have no place in our country.”
That is merely PR for her, as there is no way I believe she is being authentic. This woman is a disgrace to our country and we have to do better with elected representatives of We the People.
