Pence praises Trump over Iran strike
The relationship with Mike Pence and MAGA went out the window the moment Trump said Pence had betrayed him by certifying the 2020 election.
Pence has every reason to never say anything good about Trump again, but he is not one to hold a grudge, openly applauding Trump for his attack against Iran.
Too honest
We all know how things went for Pence on January 6, with MAGA considering him a traitor and Trump pushing the narrative that Pence could have stopped the certification of the election, but Trump grossly misunderstood Pence’s constitutional powers in that moment (or he just did not care).
From that moment, every word Pence said was met with criticism by Trump supporters.
Let’s fast forward to August 2023, when Pence was discussing that Trump was, in essence, asking him to overturn the election results, explaining, “I never considered it. I was clear with President Trump throughout all the way up to the morning” of Jan. 6, 2021. “It wasn’t just that they asked for a pause. The president specifically asked me and his gaggle of crackpot lawyers asked me to literally reject votes.”
As I am sure you can imagine, the venom gushed at Pence for having dared to say those comments.
The MAGA meltdown
Now we push forward to July 2024, where Pence actually sided with Biden for dropping out of the presidential election, saying that Biden made “the right decision,” and said that Biden was “putting the interests of our Nation ahead of his own.”
That, to me, was complete and utter nonsense, and I expressed such an opinion at the time, but Trump supporters absolutely unloaded on Pence.
Some of the comments made were “Did a Democrat write this,” We are only in this mess because of you,” and “This is why we consider you a traitor, Mike. F*** Off.”
I disagreed with Pence, but I do not and did not hate him for his comments. I just thought he was wrong and thought the GOP should have challenged the constitutionality of Harris being gifted the nomination.
Nice job
Again, Pence has every reason to sit on his hands and not say a word, but he believes that Trump did the right thing here, and he let him know it.
After the bombing took place, Pence stated, “President Trump Made the Right Call to deploy American Forces to strike nuclear sites in Iran and he should be commended for his decisive leadership. Iran could never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.
“Thanks to the resolve of our Commander in Chief and the courage and professionalism of our Armed Forces, America, Israel and the Free World are safer as a result. Iran should now stand down and abandon any thought of retaliation against Americans or be prepared to face the consequences.”
I don’t always agree with Pence, but I do respect him for always remaining true to himself and his convictions. I can only hope this olive branch works and we get a bit of unity in the party because we are going to need it if we are going to hold the House in 2026.
