Pete Hegseth reinstates training on Tuskegee Airmen

If you're a fan of the great history of the United States of America, then new United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth just made a decision that you're going to LOVE.

Pete Hegseth recently announced that the Air Force's decision to remove a course on the Tuskegee Airmen had been "immediately reversed."

The Air Force will now resume a course on the first Black pilots unit after previously discontinuing it in what "officials claim was an effort to ensure compliance with President Donald Trump’s executive order banning DEI in the federal government."

Tuskegee Airmen

According to Wikipedia:

The Tuskegee Airmen was a group of primarily African American military pilots (fighter and bomber) and airmen who fought in World War II. They formed the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group (Medium) of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). The name also applies to the navigators, bombardiers, mechanics, instructors, crew chiefs, nurses, cooks, and other support personnel. The Tuskegee airmen received praise for their excellent combat record earned while protecting American bombers from enemy fighters.

Even Donald Trump would agree that the Tuskegee airmen were so great that America needs to know about them. Trumpeting their legacy wouldn't be just another DEI move like so many decisions made by the Biden Administration.

The Tuskegee airmen aren't part of America's DEI history, they're just part of America's great HISTORY.

Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, Air Education and Training Command commander, confirmed in a statement that lessons on the Tuskegee Airmen had been yanked "because a section of it that included DEI material was directed to be removed."

A video on the Women Airforce Service Pilots, a paramilitary group of female pilots in World War 2, was also removed.

Malicious compliance

Senator Katie Britt, a Republican from Alabama, accused the Air Force of "malicious compliance." Even though Trump's removal of DEI requirements didn't mean the Tuskegee Airmen lessons should have been removed, the Air Force did it anyway to protest Trump's decision.

"I have no doubt Secretary Hegseth will correct and get to the bottom of the malicious compliance we’ve seen in recent days. President Trump celebrated and honored the Tuskegee Airmen during his first term," she said.

Still, Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson insisted the temporary removal of the Tuskegee Airmen lesson was the right decision.

"We believe this adjustment to curriculum to be fully aligned with the direction given in the DEI executive order. No curriculum or content highlighting the honor and valor of the Tuskegee Airmen or Women Air Force Service Pilots has been removed from Basic Military Training," he said. "No Airmen or Guardians will miss this block of instruction due to the revision, however, one group of trainees had the training delayed. The revised training, which focuses on the documented historic legacy and decorated valor with which these units and airmen fought for our nation in World War II and beyond will continue on 27 January."

Gen. David Allvin, Air Force chief of staff, also chimed in:

"Allow me to clearly dispel a rumor – while we are currently reviewing all training courses to ensure compliance with the executive orders, no curriculum or content highlighting the honor and valor of the Tuskegee Airmen or Women Air Force Service Pilots has been removed from Basic Military Training."
