Poll reveals majority of Americans support Trump's plan for 'largest deportation operation in American history'

A new poll found that former President Donald Trump's anti-illegal immigration measures resonate with a majority of voters, Breitbart reported. Border security continues to be Trump's signature issue and one that makes the Democrats vulnerable.

Democrats and progressives are happy to let anyone into the country unvetted and unchecked. However, it's clear that Americans are tired of illegal immigration and dealing with the problems that it brings.

Trump has always been the strongest voice on securing the border, including during his first term. Now, while seeking the White House once again, Trump has returned to his signature issue and has the support of the American people, a Harvard-Harris poll found.

When voters were asked about Trump's campaign promise to "carry out the largest deportation operation in American history," 62% of respondents supported it. Of that, 39% reported that they were "strongly" behind it.

Bad News for Democrats

Trump has a good portion of the 2,196 registered voters polled earlier this week behind him on deportation. However, his immigration promise to "stop outsourcing and turn the United States into a manufacturing superpower" is the most popular.

When polled about that centrist pledge, 83% of respondents favored Trump's plan, with 50% saying they "strongly" supported it. Americans also list "price increases/inflation" and "immigration" as top priorities along with Trump.

These issues resonate with Americans, but Trump could see some pushback from businesses that rely on illegal immigration and outsourcing. Still, the GOP adopted Trump's plan as part of its platform like never before.

During the Republican National Convention earlier this month, Trump's plan was a featured slogan. "'Mass deportation now' signs have been handed out on the floor at the RNC tonight," NBC News correspondent captured a photo of one of the signs in a post to X, formerly Twitter.

Democrats' Vulnerability

The immigration issue is one of the Democrats' greatest vulnerabilities. According to the New York Post, President Joe Biden allowed record numbers of illegal immigrants into the country during his term.

He had charged Vice President Kamala Harris with figuring out the "root cause" for such an influx of people in March 2021, but she was a devastating failure, Fox News reported. "The major problem is the root causes she identified: political instability, climate, and crime," former Border Patrol Union chief Brandon Judd said.

"That was the same under President Trump, yet we did not see an explosion in illegal immigration under the Trump administration." Now, as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, she must answer for that failure.

"It’s very disappointing," Judd said. "We gave her the policies that she needed to implement. She refused to implement those."

Trump certainly has the edge over Democrats when it comes to illegal immigration. They tried to paint Trump as xenophobic or racist in the past, but it turns out that Americans overwhelmingly agree it's time to fix the border.
