Poll says majority disapproved of Rep. Al Green stunt during Trump speech

During Donald Trump’s joint session speech, Rep. Al Green (D-TX) stood up, waved his cane around like a madman, and screamed at Trump that he had “no mandate.”

The disturbance was pre-decided by Dems, and Green wound up being tossed from the chamber. And now he is planning another disruptive move, but he may want to check with the American people first.

Majority of Americans Disapprove

After Green’s little stunt, polls were immediately taken to determine the effectiveness of the Democrats' response to Trump’s speech.

A CNN poll showed that a whopping 80% of viewers thought that Green’s actions were inappropriate.

Green tried to justify his actions outside of chambers, stating, “This whole budget that he has is one that is going to cause Medicaid to be cut, and when he said he had a mandate, it triggered something. It really did. Because he doesn’t have a mandate, and he doesn’t have a mandate to cut health care from poor people.”

Trump has been adamant that while he wants to overhaul the Medicaid system and root out fraud, he will not make cuts to the people who need the care.

Filing Impeachment Articles

Green clearly did not get the message from the American people, as he is up to his old tricks again.

Green, arguably one of the most useless members of Congress, has taken it upon himself to save the country from the bad orange man, announcing he will try to impeach Trump again, stating, “I am absolutely going to do it. This level of incivility emanating from the presidency, much of it in policy, is something we cannot tolerate.

“If President Barack Hussein Obama had behaved in this fashion, he would have been impeached. There is no question in my mind. So I believe that this president cannot escape this one thing that each member of Congress has. There are four hundred and thirty five of us, we have it. He is a Goliath but there are four hundred and thirty five Davids in Congress. I’m one of them and I am going to bring articles of impeachment.”

With the GOP in control of the House, this is a futile exercise, not to mention a waste of taxpayer time and money. This is nothing more than Green making a headline grab to tell his constituents how he fought back against the bad orange man.

Dem Leadership Not Happy with Silly Stunts

Right now, the Democrat party as a whole is a rudderless ship. Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) has always been about as useful as a tick on an elephant's butt, and House Minority Leader Jeffries (D-N.Y.) has yet to find his groove in terms of leadership.

To that point, prior to Trump’s speech, Jeffries reportedly gathered his troops and asked them to present a “strong, determined and dignified Democratic presence in the chamber.” Clearly, they did not listen to him.

According to reports, on Thursday morning, Jeffries tore into Democratic Reps. Melanie Stansbury, Jasmine Crockett, Maxwell Frost, and Maxine Dexter in what was described as a “Come to Jesus” moment.

It will be interesting to see how Crockett responds, as she is the new darling of the party and there are already rumors that she is considering a presidential run in 2028. If she manages to get the nomination, it will just prove my point that politics has become more about social media profiles than anything else, as Crocket seems to spend far more time putting out clever videos on social media than she does in legislating.
