Protesters interrupt Linda McMahon's Senate hearing

President Donald Trump chose World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) co-founder Linda McMahon to lead the Department of Education.

Her Senate hearing was this week, and protesters, as they have with other confirmation hearings, decided to interrupt it with chants paying homage to some classic WWE sayings, Mediaite reported

McMahon ran the Small Business Administration under Trump's first presidency and may not have a job as Education Secretary if Trump follows through on his idea of crushing the department completely.

Regardless, protesters once again interrupted the hearing but failed to accomplish anything other than annoying everyone in the room.

What happened?

The protesters apparently took issue with McMahon suggesting that the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) could fall under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) instead of the Department of Education.

"Can you hear what Linda McMahon is cooking? It’s a world without IDEA!" the protesters shouted during the hearing.

Mediaite reported:

The “cooking” line was also a reference to a famous catchphrase used by Dwayne Johnson, then known as The Rock, during his time wrestling for the McMahons.

“Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?” he would ask audiences from the ring.

While President Donald Trump is interested mainly in eliminating the Department of Education, McMahon said she's interested in getting rid of the “bureaucracy" at the agency.

The hearing came about the same time that Elon Musk and his DOGE unit found millions in waste at the Education Department, canceling tens of millions of dollars in contracts, mostly related to DEI and other silly liberal initiatives.

“It’s not the president’s goal to defund the programs, only to have it operate more efficiently," seemingly trying to clarify Trump's position on the DoE.

More disruptions

There were other disturbances during McMahon's hearing, one of which came while Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri (R) was asking her questions.

The man who interrupted the Missouri senator was quickly removed from the room, and had zero effect on the process.

Mediaite noted:

A separate protester also disrupted Hawley’s questions by standing up and yelling, “Linda McMahon, you’re fired!” The protester said she was a public school graduate and accused McMahon of helping billionaires to “privatize education.”

Now one wonders what the radical leftist protesters will whine about next after all of Trump's picks are confirmed.
