Rep. Mace files resolution to have Rep. McIver removed from House
Over the last two weeks, one of the biggest stories outside of Joe Biden’s health has been the incident that took place at a New Jersey ICE facility.
The DOJ has now charged Rep. McIver (D-N.J.), and Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) has filed a resolution to have her expelled from Congress in response to the charges.
The Incident
You may have missed this if you were sleeping under a rock, but the videos made it quite clear that McIver crossed a line.
McIver, however, claims that she is being politically prosecuted.
Now, I don’t know if you have seen the videos yet, but she clearly gives an agent a forearm shiver that an NFL lineman would have been proud to deliver on a quarterback or running back.
Clearly, we have not yet seen the full version of the video, but from what I saw, McIver crossed the line, and I have zero issue with these charges.
Charges Are Absurd
McIver has been all over the news, and Dems are rallying around her even though they all blasted J6ers for hitting police officers during the riot.
Former Obama-era White House ethics lawyer Norm Eisen apparently does not mind that, though, stating, “We’ve all seen that video, and it’s absurd to charge a member of Congress, Representative McIver, with doing anything other than doing her job. Yes, it was an intense situation. There was no crime there.”
McIver also called the charges “absurd” and stated that she awaits her day in court.
My take on this is that McIver was doing her job when she visited the facility, as she is entitled to. She crossed the line when she started getting the crowd worked up and crashed the gate, hitting officers in the process. And last time I checked, hitting an officer IS a crime.
She’s Done
Rep. Mace appears to agree with me, filing a resolution to have McIver expelled from Congress, citing the removal of former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), although the House did not want to wait until after his trial to have him removed.
Mace stated, "On May 9th, McIver didn't just break the law, she attacked the very people who defend it. Attacking Homeland Security and ICE agents isn't just disgraceful, it's assault. If any other American did what she did, they'd be in handcuffs."
"McIver thinks being a Member of Congress puts her above the law. It doesn't. She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
As I stated above, from what I saw in those videos, she was assaulting law enforcement, and last time I checked, that is a crime in this country. I would wait until this case plays out in court, but if McIver is found guilty, then she should 100% be removed from Congress.
