REPORT: Milley crafted collapse narrative for Afghanistan
Not long after Biden took office, he approved the withdrawal of forces from Afghanistan.
It was a debacle from the outset, ultimately leading to 13 American troops losing their lives.
Much of what Biden used to justify his actions, especially regarding leaving equipment and Americans behind, was that there was a complete collapse in less than two weeks, but some disturbing reports on that front are now surfacing.
The Withdrawal
Donald Trump had negotiated a deal with the Taliban to leave Afghanistan, but it was loaded with stipulations.
Initially, all forces were to be removed by May 1, 2021, but Biden pushed that date back.
Biden had stated that he agreed with the withdrawal, stating in February 2021, “My administration strongly supports the diplomatic process that’s underway and to bring an end to this war that is closing out 20 years.
“We remain committed to ensuring that Afghanistan never again provides a base for terrorist attacks against the United States and our partners and our interests.”
Questions
While Biden was moving forward with the withdrawal, it became apparent that the Taliban were not holding up their part of the bargain, which should have delayed or ended the withdrawal.
For instance, in March, General Richard Clarke, the commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command, testified before a Senate committee, “It is clear that the Taliban have not upheld what they said they would do and reduce the violence.
“While…they have not attacked U.S. forces, it is clear that they took a deliberate approach and increased their violence…since the peace accords were signed.”
Biden later announced that withdrawal would be concluded on September 11, the anniversary of 9/11, as Biden was clearly trying to get some headlines. There were intel reports that the Afghan government would collapse, but they were ignored by Biden.
Invented Narrative
As people were trying to justify the actions of the Biden administration, a narrative was being pushed that Afghanistan completely collapsed in 11 days, pushing the urgency for the withdrawal after Biden’s initial zero-date was issued.
General Austin “Scottie” Miller, the final commander of NATO’s Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, had stated that it took months for Afghanistan to collapse, but, among others, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Milley, was pushing the “11 days” narrative.
Biden took this narrative and ran with it, but it was reportedly Milley who initially came up with the idea to cover for Biden, having been the first person to state, “I did not, nor did anyone else see a collapse of an army that size in eleven days.”
Just the News has issued a full report, covering how this narrative was put together, how it played out, who was pushing, and how it was just flat-out wrong. When you have 15 minutes to digest it, I highly encourage you to read it in full (click here). This is just a crushing blow to Milley, but it once again shows that Biden was not in charge and had no idea what he was doing. He was being fed information and regurgitating it to the media and the American people.
