REPORT: Pelosi refusing to give up her grip on power in the Democrat Party
Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) may no longer be Speaker, but she has proven she is still pulling the strings in the party.
Now, there are rumblings, and party members are starting to lose their patience with her inability to walk away.
Nancy ousts Joe
Had it been up to Joe Biden, he would have rolled the dice and taken his chances against Donald Trump in the general election, but it was not up to Joe.
Reports were flying at the time that Pelosi was leading an effort to get Biden to step down, and Pelosi even admitted as much after the fact.
One House Democrat stated, “That groundswell on Friday of members calling for him to step down was all Nancy’s doing.”
The consensus was that Pelosi felt they would lose the general election regardless, but she wanted new blood because enthusiasm had dipped with Biden, and she felt they would still have a chance to take back the House with a different candidate.
Pelosi undermining Jeffries
All this backroom scheming was seen as Pelosi not allowing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) to take over the caucus after she gave up the gavel.
You could see in the way that Democrats were paying Jeffries no mind in the demands he was making of the caucus, as it was clear the establishment was getting its orders from Pelosi, not Jeffries.
To his credit, Jeffries denied that Pelosi was undermining him, but he really had no choice.
Had he spoken out against her publicly, Pelosi would have ruined him and likely led a coup against him as party leader when the next vote came up.
Pelosi refusing to step down
There are now some rather significant sources within the Democrat Party who are saying that Pelosi will not give up power until she is six feet under.
Even though the party is craving new leadership, Pelosi will not let go of her grip. Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, stated, “As long as Nancy takes a breath, she is going to do what she wants to do.”
Another source touched on the subject of the friction between Pelosi and Jeffries, stating, “Hakeem wants her out. Nancy has her hand in every decision he makes as leader. She just can’t help herself.” Jeffries’ camp denied that is the case.
First, I don’t believe Jeffries for a second, as I think he is furious that Pelosi will not let him do things his way. Second, as long as Pelosi has her talons on the House, Dems will continue to fail. Dems should have crushed the GOP in the House in 2024, and history says the Dems should take the House back in 2026, but I don’t see that happening unless Pelosi gets out of the way. As long as she holds these hills, it will be the death of the Democrat Party.
