REPORT: ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff with Cole Hauser Expected

I know we are a political publication, but I think it is a safe assumption that many of our readers also like to watch “Yellowstone.”

Well, my friends, I have good news for you… it appears that we are going to have a “Yellowstone” spinoff that will concentrate on Rip and Beth.

Costner Drops Bombshell

Fans were stunned when the filming of season five of “Yellowstone” was announced.

They were even more stunned to learn that the season would continue without the biggest name in the cast, Kevin Costner.

Filming got all messy during COVID, and it put everyone behind schedule, with the new shooting schedule conflicting with Costner’s plan to film his epic, “Horizon.”

Costner wound up being squeezed for time and he and producer Taylor Sheridan could not come to a reasonable deal, so Costner was more or less forced to drop out of “Yellowstone.”

After the fact, with Costner pushing back about rumors of why he left, he stated, “I made Yellowstone the first priority, and to insinuate anything else would be wrong. I did not initiate any of those things. They did. They were doing a tap dance and this poor guy was also having to write so much.”

No More Drama

After the decision was made, Costner really let loose about how disappointed he was that he did not get more support from those involved in the series. He stated, "I was disappointed that nobody on their side ... ever stepped up to defend what it was I actually did for them.

“There came a moment where I thought, 'Wow, when is somebody going to say something about what I have done versus what I haven't done?'”

Based on the reaction of co-star Luke Grimes, who plays one of Costner’s sons in the show, Costner was creating unwanted drama, and Grimes seemed relieved that Costner left, stating, “To be really honest, there was a part of Kevin being gone that meant some of the conflict was gone.”

It was also made apparent from most cast members that they did not want the show to end, and it appears they are getting their way, at least in part.

New Spinoff

“Yellowstone” may be dead, but some of these characters are going to live on according to new reports about the show.

On Wednesday, Deadline reported that Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth, and Cole Hauser, who plays Rip, are going to get a spinoff of “Yellowstone,” which we have to assume will feature plenty of the old cast members.

The new show will reportedly pick up in the timeline where “Yellowstone” ended. Hauser, who actually got into a trademark lawsuit with Sheridan over his coffee brand, holds no grudges, stating, “If Taylor writes it, I would certainly love to do it. The cast, you know, I consider them all family. So if Taylor was to do something and bring it and put it on my table, I’m certain I would do it.”

I have not yet watched the final season, but it will surely make it a bit easier knowing this is not the end. Yes, my friends, “Yellowstone” will live on, even if by a different name.
