Robert F. Kennedy Jr. promises "radical transparency" at HHS
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has promised Americans that he will bring "radical transparency" to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services after he was confirmed by the Senate.
RFK Jr. was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch in the Oval Office on Thursday afternoon with his wife, Cheryl Hines, family members, and President Donald Trump looking on.
The confirmation of RFK Jr. is a massive turning point in an already historic presidential term as he is expected to be one of Trump's most impactful cabinet members with the changes he is expected to make as HHS Secretary.
In an exclusive interview on "The Ingraham Angle," RFK Jr. stated "We need somebody different who can come in and say, ‘I'm going to be a disruptor. I'm not going to let the food industry and the pharmaceutical industry run health policy anymore.' We're going to make — we're going to turn health policy over to people who are actually concerned with public health."
For too long, American health has languished as pharmaceutical companies have been allowed to run wild by previous administrations. Now with RFK Jr. at the helm, those days are over and the health of the American people will be the top priority.
Make America Healthy Again
RFK Jr. is determined to make America healthy again after decades of obesity running out of control, something that is partly enabled by the lax food safety standards that lag behind standards in the rest of the first world.
During his interview on "The Ingraham Angle" RFK Jr. said, "You have a whole generation of kids that feel alienated, dispossessed, and they are in a[n] existential crisis, not only because their health is, you know — 77% of our kids can't qualify for military service. There's a [purpose] in their lives, and no sense of usefulness or effectiveness or connectedness to their communities."
Americans are more unhealthy than ever with chronic diseases running rampant and a healthcare industry more focused on providing treatments instead of cures.
However, RFK Jr. is also concerned with societal illnesses like depression, suicide, alcoholism, and drug addiction which have claimed the lives of millions of Americans without any meaningful actions taken.
He's correct in calling out the fact that many Americans feel "alienated" and are struggling with an "existential crisis" which is having severe impacts on both mental and physical health.
One major thing that RFK Jr. wants to address is the lack of transparency about what Americans are eating. He explained, "We have 10,000 additives in our food. The Europeans have 400. Many of the additives that we have are just illegal in Europe, and we need to move more and more toward the European standards."
RFK Jr. also wants to change how scientific information is shared with consumers in order to further increase transparency and allow Americans to make more informed decisions about their health.
Unprecedented Changes
The confirmation of RFK Jr. as Trump's HHS Secretary is remarkable considering RFK Jr. is far from a typical conservative. His elevation to such an important position is further proof that Trump's administration is not merely a radical partisan machine.
Trump has expanded the GOP's political tent and taken in refugees from the Democrat Party that refused to accept the radical ideas that have taken over.
RFK Jr. is addressing issues that many Republicans have ignored for decades and Trump's recognition of this demonstrates that Trump has ascended above petty politics and is prioritizing good ideas that will benefit Americans.
The coming months could see radical changes that will both shake up American life and more importantly, make Americans healthier as RFK Jr. goes after pharmaceutical companies that have had unchallenged rule for too long.
