Rogan will not attend UFC 315 in Canada
Even since Musk joined up with Trump, Joe Rogan has gotten a little more political than usual.
Now he is boycotting the next UFC in Canada, but that is hardly the end of this story in terms of Rogan, the Trump administration, and Canada.
Rogan calls out new liberal party leader in Canada
I’m not sure I would have ever classified Rogan as a liberal, but he definitely leaned a little more to the left than to the right up until the last few years.
Rogan is clearly frustrated over this feud with Canada and is placing some of the blame on the new Liberal Party leader, Mark Carney.
After Carney was elected to replace Trudeau, Rogan stated, “They got a new guy, who’s just as bad. It’s the same thing … 150 people voted, and now they have a new guy running the country.”
He then added, “Their whole election system is so different. They don’t have a specific time where they have elections, so … the whole thing is so crazy. I don’t know what’s happening with their politics, but I just want America and Canada to get along. I think it’s ridiculous.”
Breaking with Trump
Rogan does not like the idea of Trump hitting Canada with tariffs or adding them as the 51st State, a stance I have also taken (regarding the 51st state). Rogan stated, “Why are we upset at Canada? This is stupid, this over tariffs. We got to become friends with Canada again, this is so ridiculous.
“I can't believe there is anti American, anti Canadian sentiment going on. It's the dumbest f****** feud. I just want America and Canada to get along, I think it's ridiculous. And I don't think they should be our 51st state.”
I have pushed back on Canada being the 51st state from the outset because it makes no sense from a conservative point of view, with Canada being an uber-liberal country.
If we absorbed Canada, a country the size of California and similar political mindset, Democrats would likely be +25 or more in House seats and lock up both seats in the Senate, meaning the GOP would never have control of Congress again. And don’t forget the roughly 54 electoral votes the new “state” would get in a general election. Why nobody is even considering that is baffling to me.
Rogan Boycotting UFC 315
Even though Rogan has been critical of this little feud between Trump and Canada, he has landed his own shots, calling Canada a horrible country for having booed the National Anthem.
Rogan called Canada “terrible,” but then he said the “Canadian people are awesome.” Well, that is kind of hypocritical, Joe, because it was the Canadian people who booed our Anthem.
He also stated that he would not be attending the upcoming UFC 315, where he usually serves as a ringside commentator and interviews the fighters after the bout. He stated that he does not go to Canada “anymore,” adding, "I'd rather go to Russia."
Rogan rarely misses a UFC event, but he did miss UFC 312, which was held in London. During that event, Michael Bipsing took Rogan’s spot on the broadcast.
