San Francisco 49ers Player Released After Being Shot in the Chest

The San Francisco 49ers are breathing a little bit easier today, as is Ricky Pearsall.

Pearsall was the first-round pick of the 49ers in the 2024 draft.

He was also shot in the chest this weekend, but he has somehow already been released from the hospital.

Miracle

Pearsall was shot near Union Square, with some people capturing the aftermath in a video.

Shockingly, Pearsall was seen walking to the ambulance, covering his chest wound with his t-shirt.

Pearsall was involved in an attempted robbery of his Rolex watch while heading to a signing event.

The suspect and Pearsall struggled over the gun, with Pearsall eventually being shot in the chest during the struggle.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott explained, "A struggle between Mr. Pearsall and the suspect ensued and gunfire from the suspect's gun struck both Mr. Pearsall and the subject.”

The suspect was only identified as a 17-year-old male and he is in custody.

Scott confirmed the arrest, stating, "Thankfully, our hard-working officers made a swift arrest in this case and we will do everything within our power to ensure justice is served.”

Pearsall’s mother updated fans on social media, stating, “He was shot in the chest and it exited out his back. Thanks be to God it missed his vital organs. He is in good spirits right now.”

On Sunday, Pearsall’s condition was upgraded to “fair,” and he was released after being in the hospital for about 24 hours.

Pearsall started his college career at Arizona State, where he received few opportunities until his third season, then he transferred to the University of Florida.

During his first year in Florida, he had his best season, catching 33 balls for 661 yards and 5 TDs.

In his senior year, he did even better, notching 65 catches for 965 yards and 4 TDs.

He will start his rookie campaign on the Active/Non-football injury or illness list until he recovers from the wound and is cleared to play ball again.
