Sanders gets upset over AOC Senate question

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have been buddies since her first day in office.

So, it was no surprise to see Sanders take questions about the uprising on the left to have Senator Schumer (D-NY) replaced by AOC, but Sanders did not take too kindly to the questions.

AOC urged to primary Schumer

So, Democrats are upset with Schumer after he helped the GOP pass a procedural vote to break the filibuster for a short-term spending bill.

Even though Schumer is not up for re-election until 2028, there is a growing contingent in the Democrat Party encouraging AOC to primary against Schumer, but I doubt that will happen.

Mona Kleinberg, an assistant professor at Queens College, City University of New York, agrees, saying that the spending bill will not even be on voters’ minds when they vote in 2028.

She stated, "Voters have short-term memory when it comes to voting. They care about the state of the economy and their pocketbooks. Moreover, senators were purposefully insulated from public opinion by the framers of the Constitution—hence the six-year terms. AOC, on the other hand, is constantly running for reelection as all House representatives are."

Sanders ready to leave interview over AOC question

Sanders remains one of the most influential senators in the Democrat caucus, and since he and AOC are buddies, asking him about AOC running against Schumer was hardly out of pocket.

Yet, Sanders got quite upset when he was asked about AOC primarying Schumer for his seat in 2028.

Sanders started to rise from his chair instead of answering the question, responding, "Right now, we have, as I said, just a whole lot of people in the Congress. OK, Jonathan. Thanks.”

The host did manage to get Sanders to sit back down, but he made it clear he wanted nothing to do with any questions about AOC, including an event that was being held on her behalf that day.

The Comedy Show

There are plenty of people who believe AOC being moved into leadership, let alone Senate leadership, will spell the end of the Democrat Party.

Fox News contributor David Marcus is among those, calling the AOC-Sanders duo a “comedy tour.”

His article concluded, “In the end, don’t be surprised if Sanders & AOC’s Fighting Oligarchy Tour turns out to be the final goodbye tour of socialism in the Democratic Party and in our national politics.”

I tend to agree with him because the party as a whole is not properly reading the signs voters clearly sent to Democrats in the last election. And if they continue toward this far-left lunge, they will continue to lose minorities and younger voters, and without a dominant hold on those two demographics, Dems are cooked.
