Schumer Appoints Adam Schiff to Senate Judiciary Committee

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has just completely betrayed the trust of the American people.

After years of lying to the American people, Schumer has decided to appoint Senator Schiff (D-CA) to one of the most powerful committees in the Senate, the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will play an instrumental role in approving Trump’s cabinet nominees.

The Nunes Memo

Schiff has always been a snake, but the truly horrific lies started when then-Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) released a memo that, among other things, outlined FISA warrant abuses. Ironically, Kash Patel, Donald Trump’s nominee for the FBI, is believed to have primarily authored that memo.

Schiff immediately put out his own memo to counter all the claims made by Nunes. The memo was widely applauded at the time, to the point that then-House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) called on then-House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) to demote Nunes from his committee assignment.

At the time, Pelosi stated, "The decision of Chairman Nunes and House Republicans to release a bogus memo has taken the GOP’s cover-up campaign to a new, completely unacceptable extreme.

"From the start, Congressman Nunes has disgraced the House Intelligence Committee. Since pledging to recuse himself from the Trump-Russia investigation, Congressman Nunes has abused his position to launch a highly unethical and dangerous cover-up campaign for the White House."

The IG Report

Roughly two years later, the Inspector General’s office investigated the claims, and, of course, it vindicated the Nunes memo and obliterated the Schiff memo, yet Democrats stood by Schiff, not calling for him to be removed from his committee assignments after we learned everything he said was a lie.

Schiff, in his memo, had claimed that FBI and DOJ officials did not omit information from the FISA warrant, a lie. He also claimed that the DOJ “made only narrow use of information from Steele’s sources about Page’s specific activities in 2016.” That was another lie, as we now know the Steele Dossier was the focal point of the FISA requests.

He claimed that in subsequent FISA requests, the DOJ corroborated the Steele Dossier information with additional evidence, which was not the case. He further stated that the FISA warrants allowed the collection of “valuable intelligence,” yet another lie.

Schiff went on to claim that the DOJ had “repeatedly informed the Court about Steele’s background, credibility, and potential bias.” He also claimed that the FBI had rigorously vetted Steele’s allegations and that the prior reporting from Steele had been used in “criminal proceedings.” All of those claims were also lies.

Schumer Gives Schiff a Gift

After the Nunes memo came out, Schumer wrote to then-Speaker Ryan, “Quite simply, under your leadership, dangerous partisanship among many House Republicans seems to have taken precedent over the oath we all take to protect our nation.”

Yet, now he is appointing the individual who was actually partisan during that process and published nothing but a stack of lies to one of the most powerful committees in government, which, of course, includes the vetting of possible Supreme Court justices. The news came via a statement from Schiff, which, in part, stated, “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on four committees of keen interest to all Californians.

“These assignments will allow me to work directly on the high cost of housing and other inflation issues, to support our critical agriculture industry, to address crime and public safety concerns, to support our small businesses, to attack fentanyl, to reform our broken immigration system, to preserve and protect our environment, to deliver vital water and transportation infrastructure, to protect our democracy, rights and our freedoms, and so much more. I’m committed to working across the aisle to deliver for Californians in the U.S. Senate and eager to get started.”

This is a complete and utter travesty, yet not a single mainstream reporter has stuck a microphone in the face of Schumer with his quote about Nunes to ask him about the double standard. It is situations like this where our mainstream media fails us, as they either don’t care or are simply too lazy to research these things to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions.
