Schumer claims voters turning to Dems, but…
On Trump’s 100th day, Trump had a rally and Democrats started to throw darts to call out Trump over his recent polling.
Dems are right… Trump is getting hammered in polls, but Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) went a bit further, making a statement that is just patently false.
Trump Crashing in Polls
In the 100-day polls, Trump is struggling. He is now underwater in some key areas and has an absurdly low approval rating, which is now under 40% in some polls.
This would make it the worst 100-day approval rating of any president over the last eight decades, and it is the worst since Trump’s first term, where he was at 42% after 100 days.
I have broken this down many times already, pointing to Trump overpromising and making himself out to be the “only” person that could fix these things.
But, even as bad as the polls are, the media is not talking about one key number.
Schumer Just Lies
Schumer told the American people that voters are now flocking to the Democrat Party, upset with Trump, but that is just not true.
He stated, “And the reason our caucus is feeling very good about our future, we know we have to work on it day in and day out, [is] because we know we’re on the side of the American people and [Republicans] are not.
“And you know the political process, you have to fight, you have to protest, you have to do everything you can. And public sentiment is everything. And the public sentiment is turning in our direction.”
First, the Democrat approval rating is just as bad as Trump’s, and there is another stat that has pollsters baffled.
Trump Hanging Tough
When you have an approval rating that is under 40% after only 100 days, one would think that most voters have buyer’s remorse, but that is not the case here. People are upset, but a recent poll showed that roughly 94% of the people who voted for Trump would not change their vote 100 days in.
CNN pollster Frank Lutz, who stated, “I’ve been mocked for saying I’m surprised about this, but I’m surprised about this: that Trump voters, who acknowledge that they’re worth less today than they were on Election Day, that the 401(k)s they depend on for their future has been hurt, has been damaged and yet they stand behind him. They’ll make excuses that the markets were overbought. They’ll make excuses that we need to level set.
“They’re willing to accept personal pain for them to get a readjustment of the relationship between the U.S. and China, a readjustment of the relationship between the U.S. and the rest of the world. They’ll take personal pain to get that readjustment. And Andrew, I’ve never seen this before because usually when you’re hurt economically, that changes your perspective and your politics. Not with these people. They’re staying firm.”
If anything, that shows how little faith the people have in Democrats. As bad as Trump is doing right now, it would appear that most people believe we will come out of this in better shape. So, sorry Chuck, but you have been proven to be a liar again.
