Schumer now facing attacks on multiple fronts to step down from office
I don’t expect Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to buckle under pressure to resign his office, but he is now in some serious trouble.
Reports have surfaced that groups aligned with George Soros are now supporting Schumer’s removal, and I don’t know if he can fight off that kind of pressure.
Top Dem Senator Hints It’s Time for Schumer to Go
Over the last few weeks, Senator Schumer has faced significant criticism for allowing the GOP to pass a procedural vote that broke the filibuster for the temporary spending bill.
Many of his past supporters and allies appear to be jumping ship, and that list now includes Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO).
When Bennet was asked if he would ask Schumer to step aside in leadership, he avoided the question but did say, “And in dodging your question, let me just say it’s important for people to know when it’s time to go. We’re going to have conversations, I’m sure, in the foreseeable future, about all the Democratic leadership.”
He later added, “I do think on the leadership question, it’s always better to examine whether folks are in the right place, and we’re certainly going to have that conversation.”
Soros Group Reportedly Pushing Schumer Retirement
A leftist activist hub funded in part by George Soros’ Open Society Foundations, Indivisible, is demanding that Senator Chuck Schumer step aside, retire, and allow the next generation of Democrats to take over.
Indivisible’s co-executive director Ezra Levin recently stated, “Senator Schumer should step aside as leader. Every Democrat in the Senate should call for him to do so, and begin making plans for new leadership immediately.”
OSF has donated nearly $8 million to the group, which, on Saturday, made up retirement cards for Schumer. This has armed the Republicans with more attacks against Schumer and Dems, asking who is actually leading the party right now.
NRCC spokeswoman Emily Tuttle stated, “Democrats are eating their own — selling out to the far-left crazies and mega-donors who are funding clown show protests across the country. It’s painfully obvious that George Soros doesn’t believe that ‘Leaders’ [Hakeem] Jeffries or Schumer have the backbone to lead.”
Demise of the Party
A recent poll showed that AOC led all Democrats as the voice of the party, which was quite concerning. Add in that Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), another socialist, was among the top leaders, it shows that the party is losing its way.
To that point, former Clinton pollster Mark Penn says this big shift to make AOC a leader in the party could wind up hurting the party more than helping it, as the majority of the country has proven to reject this far-left-wing agenda that AOC is pushing.
Penn stated, “I don’t think she’s going to challenge Schumer, but if she does, I mean, already the Democratic ratings are down to 29%. I’ve never seen anything like it. That means the left base is with the Democratic Party and the moderates are all leaving the party. So AOC taking off Schumer, wow, that could finish this party off. This could put it into the wilderness the way the Labour Party was for a decade.”
I believe AOC is the likely heir to Schumer’s seat, but she has already been rejected in leadership during the last House elections. They love her for the press, but I am not quite sure the party is ready to give her a gavel just yet. And if they are, better for conservatives because as Penn hinted, she will lead them right into oblivion.
