Secret Service Boss Drilled by Congress on Ridiculous Excuses

As I am sure you have heard by now, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has tendered her resignation.

This decision was probably fairly easy after she spent a couple of days on the Hill getting blasted by both sides of the aisle.

This is one of the first times in forever that I can remember seeing a bipartisan attack on the person in the hot seat without any breaks or adulation from one side or the other.

Time to Go

When Cheatle was first asked why she did not have a team on the roof where the shot was made in the assassination attempt against Donald Trump, she claimed the roof had such a steep slope that it would not be safe for snipers.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-GA) was among those who went to the site, climbing the same roof where the shooter set up shop.

Gimenez wrote, "I’m 70 years old, if I was able to get on this roof — anybody can."

To see just how ridiculous this excuse was, watch this report from Fox News…

Rep. Comer (R-KY) also noted the cooperation across the aisle, stating, “This committee is not known for its model of bipartisanship.

“We came together unanimously in our disappointment for your lack of answers.”

To his point, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) added, “I don’t want to add to the director’s terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, but I will be joining the chairman in calling for the resignation of the director just because I think that this relationship is irretrievable at this point.

“And I think that the director has lost the confidence of Congress at a very urgent and tender moment in the history of the country. And we need to very quickly move beyond this.”

Cheatle did not help her case by playing the avoidance game with members of Congress.

She more than likely leaked her opening statement, which was called out by Rep. Mace (R-S.C.), changed her stories numerous times, and came completely unprepared… it was a page right of Secretary Mayorkas’ playbook, only members on both sides were not having it this time.

In my opinion, she was lucky to even have the opportunity to resign, but rest assured, this is not over yet.

There are already calls to have a referral for perjury, and I would be highly surprised if she is not sued or charged in the death of Corey Comperatore, and possibly even for the attempt on Trump’s life.
