Stefanik Turns the Table on Dem Senator Asking About Musk

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) stood tall during her confirmation hearing for the US Ambassador to the United Nations.

When Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) tried to make her hearing about Elon Musk, she shut him down cold.

The Musk Salute

During the presidential inauguration, Elon Musk took to the stage and made a gesture that made national headlines. Musk’s critics, including Democrats, claimed he was openly giving a Nazi salute. For instance, Amadeu Antonio Foundation spokesman Lorenz Blumenthaler claimed, "The shape of the gesture is very clear....his look is completely rigid and that also fits in with the Nazi gesture."

Among these defending Musk was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who posted, "It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge."

Musk responded to the comments, stating, "The radical leftists are really upset that they had to take time out of their busy day praising Hamas to call me a Nazi."

Musk craves attention, so I believe he did this on purpose to create this narrative solely so he could play the victim. That seems to be his new thing. Do I think Musk is a Nazi or support Nazi beliefs… absolutely not.

All About Musk

Stefanik is a politician that I have never really gotten behind. While I did not support her for Trump’s VP, I think this particular position is a great fit for her, and I fully support the nomination.

Yet, when it came time for her hearing, Senator Murphy (D-CT) could not get off the Elon Musk narrative.

Murphy was holding Stefanik responsible for how far-right blogs and white supremacists were reacting to the salute as if she had any control over their perception of it.

Stefanik held her ground, though, and refused to back down.

Hold On…

Her hearing was entertaining, to say the least. When Murphy asked her, “What do you think about Trump’s most visible advisor, Elon Musk, performing a Nazi salute?” Stefanik fired right back, “That is simply not the case. To say so – the American people see through it. They support Elon Musk.”

Murphy continued down this line of questioning, adding, “But right-wing commentators celebrated it. White supremacists rallied behind it. Does that concern you?” She came right back at him, “What concerns me is – this is what you believe is most important to ask the U.N. ambassador. President Trump earned historic from voters because of his leadership against antisemitism.”

The Israeli PM defended Musk, and the Anti-Defamation League said it was not a Nazi salute, but Murphy is more worried about asking Stefanik questions about fringe websites than he is about her duties.

I have stated before, I don’t really have anything against Musk, but I am not a fan of him joining this administration, mostly because I think he and Trump will have a blowout of epic proportions at some point. They both crave attention, and Trump will not share the limelight, but then Musk does something stupid like this that only brings more heat. And now it is impacting nominations. For once, it would be nice to see all the adults in the room actually act like adults.
