Steve Bannon: Trump Broke the Oligarchs

While very controversial, Steve Bannon still has Donald Trump’s ear.

Bannon does not like some of the people cozying up to Trump, especially Elon Musk, so now he is taunting them in the media.

Zuckerberg Gives Up the Tapes

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of META, Facebook’s parent company, was all over the Democrats in the 2020 election, even censoring information that could have hurt Joe Biden, such as the Hunter Biden laptop story.

After Donald Trump won the most recent election, Zuckerberg suddenly decided to change his tune, opening up about the pressure applied to META by Democrats.

After being pressured to take down posts that questioned COVID-19, including humor and satirical content, Zuckerberg stated, “I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.”

He added, “I also think we made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn’t make today. We’re ready to push back if something like this happens again.”

The White House responded, “When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this Administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety. Our position has been clear and consistent: we believe tech companies and other private actors should take into account the effects their actions have on the American people, while making independent choices about the information they present.”

Big Donations

With Elon Musk already in the fold, Zuckerberg decided that he needed to get into Trump’s inner circle as well, which led to META donating $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos got in on the party, donating $1 million, as did numerous other tech giants trashing Trump just a few months ago. For instance, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was also reportedly going to donate, stating, "President Trump will lead our country into the age of AI, and I am eager to support his efforts to ensure America stays ahead.”

On Inauguration Day, it was the who’s who of billionaires at Trump’s inauguration, which led to some rather colorful comments by Steve Bannon.

He Broke Them

Bannon does not like Musk, and I am pretty sure this interview with Bannon was specifically to get under Musk’s skin.

When Bannon was asked about people like Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg now kissing up to Trump, he responded, “For I think 18 months. As soon as Zuckerberg said, I’ve been invited, I’m going. The floodgates opened up, and they were all there knocking, trying to be supplicants.

“So I look at this and I think most people in our movement look at this as President Trump broke the oligarchs. He broke them, and they surrendered.”

I found it rather funny when Biden spoke about oligarchs taking over the country when you consider the influence people like Bill Gates and George Soros had over his administration. Like Bannon, though, I am not exactly thrilled that Trump is suddenly getting cozy with these people. I could be wrong, but I just don’t trust them because they have proven time and again to be self-serving.
