Supreme Court lets Trump downsize government
After taking office, Donald Trump issued an order to reorganize and restructure the government. Of course, the order was challenged.
In a shocking Supreme Court 8-1 ruling, the Court will allow the administration to proceed.
Big win
Make no mistake about it, this was a monster win for Trump, and a win that will hurt liberals and Democrats.
The court ruled 8-1 that Trump had the power to downsize government. Unlike the narrative that Justice Jackson was pushing, Trump was reorganizing, not eliminating, so this was well within his rights.
Trump’s order stated, “Pursuant to the Presidential Memorandum of January 20, 2025 (Hiring Freeze), the Director of the Office of Management and Budget shall submit a plan to reduce the size of the Federal Government’s workforce through efficiency improvements and attrition (Plan).
“The Plan shall require that each agency hire no more than one employee for every four employees that depart, consistent with the plan and any applicable exemptions and details provided for in the Plan.”
The lone wolf
Jackson was the lone wolf, even being called out by Justice Sotomayor, who sided with the majority.
Sotomayor pointed to the reorganization aspect of the order, citing that while Jackson was right about the fact that Trump did not have the power to simply dissolve agencies, his order was well within his rights.
As we have stated before, it just seemed to show that Jackson has become more activist than juror during these proceedings, which she proved yet again during an ABC News interview, when she started spewing Democrat talking points about the conservative majority being a “threat to the rule of law.”
She then stated, “Sometimes we have cases that have those kinds of implications, and, you know, are there cases in which there are issues that have that kind of significance? Absolutely."
Another big win
That was not the only win that Trump had this week, as he won a ruling that seemed to make the presiding judge sick to his stomach.
Current FISA Court judge and Barack Obama appointee U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta ruled that Trump had the right to claw back roughly $800 million in grants, but not before he blasted the administration.
He stated, "Defendants’ rescinding of these awards is shameful. It is likely to harm communities and individuals vulnerable to crime and violence. But displeasure and sympathy are not enough in a court of law."
You just have to love the fact that judges do not interject their personal feelings into cases and simply allow the law to dictate the outcome of their rulings.
