Tapper gets obliterated by Megyn Kelly
Jake Tapper and a host of other authors have started to publish books about the mental decline of Joe Biden while in office.
Tapper was on “The Megyn Kelly Show” to promote his new book, but I don’t think the interview went quite the way he expected.
Lara Trump comments
Before we delve into that interview, we must revisit comments made by Lara Trump, as they are central to Tapper’s book and his failure to report on this in real time.
Lara Trump commented Biden during a rally appearance, stating, “Every time he’s on stage and they turn to him, I’m like, ‘Joe, can you get it out? Let’s get the words out, Joe.’ You kind of feel bad for him.”
She later appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” and was asked about her comments after being accused of mocking Joe Biden’s stutter.
Defending Her Comments
Jake Tapper hammered Trump for her comments, saying that he believed she was mocking Biden’s stutter.
Lara Trump responded that she “had no idea” when she made her comments that Biden had a stuttering problem. She added, “I think what we see with Joe Biden, Jake, is very clearly a cognitive decline. That’s what I’m referring to. It makes me uncomfortable to watch somebody on stage search for questions and try and figure out an answer.”
Tapper came back at her, asking her how she thinks little kids who stutter feel when she makes fun of Biden like that. Trump replied, “I think what we see on stage with Joe Biden is very clearly a cognitive decline.”
Tapper was clearly upset with Trump and cut her off, stating, “I think you were mocking his stutter, and I think you have absolutely no standing to diagnose somebody’s cognitive decline.”
Utterly destroyed
There was a time when Megyn Kelly was an exceptional journalist, but she is now in the bag for Trump, which is shocking considering some of the things he has said about her.
Having said that, Kelly interviewed Tapper about his new book, “Original Sin,” and this was the hard-hitting, no-nonsense Kelly that I loved seeing when she reported on Fox News.
Kelly hammered Tapper for not covering the decline in real time, when, as she noted, we in the right-wing media were being mocked and dismissed for our reporting on the subject. At one point, she obliterated Tapper, stating, "You didn’t follow up on the fact that he was falling up the stairs, that he was losing his train of thought regularly, that he was slurring, that he was incomprehensible, that he was getting lost in the White House lawn.
“You sat right across from him and you asked none of that, notwithstanding the fact that he had promised you he would be fully transparent about his health issues.”
That is called eating a piece of humble pie, but that does not suffice. Tapper failed the American people, yet now he is going to profit from reporting on the very subject he was complicit in covering up over the last four years. Furthermore, there is simply no way I believe he and Thompson were able to put this book together after the election. I believe they knew about the decline and purposely saved their reporting until after Joe Biden left office to help Biden cover this up as well as profit from the story itself. Tapper should be more than humbled, he should be ashamed.
